    Default Some questions

Okay, I got kinda bored with NTW. Then I thought it would be fun to play Rome again. But I knew Vanilla was a bit boring, so I found this mod. It has been a long time since I've played Rome, so I've some questions about the gameplay itself (of this mod) and some other simple questions. I did read the FAQ, but not all the pages that come after post 1.

    Q. How is the A.I.(battle)?
I really forgot whats the A.I. like in Rome. Is it a bit of a challange? Does it get morale bonusses on very hard like Empire or is the A.I. really smarter?

    Q. Becomes the AI (campaign) more agressive on very hard?
    Q. How large are the money bonusses and how do they work?
I'd really like to have numbers, not: On very hard they get more money than on hard.
I really hate to play a campaign when the enemy has every settlement fully upgraided and lots of stacks. Most of the time it ends in a siege battle wich I always win with few losses on my side. I once counted how many enemies attack my city in vanilla Rome. Alesia (me as Julii) was a huge city fully surrounded by Spain and Britons. In total they send over 100,000 troops, without taking it. I was defending it with 2,000 troops. Turn after turn it was a boring 1 hour fight. My forces were in Asia Minor fighting Pontus, Armenia and Parthia so I couldn't launch a counter attack. Will something like this happen in this mod?

    Q. Does it work on Windows 7 64 bit?
    Vale,

P.S. Would you please point out if I make any grammatical or spelling errors? It would be very much appreciated. I will rep+ you if you can also explain the error to me.

    Not impressive.

It gets insane stat boni. Which is why EB is recommended for M battles.

More dick-headed. In other words, suicidally aggressive towards the player and incapable of maintaining an alliance. Like the Zerg, but quite unlike most human nations. Also, it receives more extra money.

    That happens on VH.
Also, as you're mentioning Spain: the Lusitanians routinely become very huge in EB campaigns. Though if you're Rome, you can squash them without terrible difficulties. Watch out for their super-nasty skirmishers. The ones called "ambushers".

It's less likely to happen if you play on M.

The AI's not terribly impressive, and it doesn't get any smarter or dumber based on Difficulty. Occasionally it'll pull off something clever, but normally you'll see it - it's only in thick forests that you're likely to get surprised by something.

The AI gets Morale bonus on Hard and Very Hard, although I'm not sure how big, along with +4/+4 or +7/+7 to Attack and Defense Skill.

    Q. How large are the money bonusses and how do they work?

On VH they get more money ....
I'll try to find exact numbers, but I recall reading that the VH money bonus is something like 10K, and that's not counting the EB money bonus all the AI factions get.

Ahhh ... the first thing I found (from 2007) said the AI gets a 1200 mnai/turn boost per city. Another from 2006 said the AI gets a 30K boost when it gets in debt, although I can't tell from the context whether it's a one-time boost or recurring. Haven't actually put EB on my computer yet (other games have been devouring my time), but the EBBS.txt file apparently has the script information in it.

Unless you play on VH, you'll routinely encounter lots of stacks (varying sizes), but not so much fully-upgraded settlements. In particular, they tend to grow pretty slowly compared to human Settlements. Reason being that the AI tends to buy all its troops before looking at any buildings, and except on VH they tend to start running out of money to build stuff.

    Q. Does it work on Windows 7 64 bit?
It should. Rome runs fine on it, and while I checked a few threads here on Win7 (that didn't mention whether they used 32 or 64-bit), I don't see why it wouldn't.
I beat back their first attack with ease. Properly employed, E's can be very deadly, deadlier even than P's and Z's, though they're not as lethal as Paula Abdul or Right Said Fred.

I've heard mixed things about running it on a 64 bit OS, but I'm also intrested in getting to the bottom of that one.

It runs fine on my system (Vista 64 bit), I gather windows 7 can be a bit more problematic though.

Other than the standard (just put it in a folder in the C drive, not in Program Files), no. I'm going to install EB sometime in the next half-hour or so (I hope ...) and I'll try to report back if it works ... assuming I don't lean back in 6 hours after unifying the Italic peninsula ....
