    Default Redundant Question

    Hey all,

    I think I, or someone else, may have asked this, but I was unable to find a thread via the search function.

    Anyways, Rebel Generals - any way to bring them back into the fold? Or do I just sit them outside of towns until my faction leader, or they, die?

    Side note - is it true that recruiting spies/assassins and having successful missions increases faction leader authority? Any other tips for authority increase?

    Thanks!

    I think he means the Generals that get the trait "Rebel", or whatever, which means they have like zero movement points and loyalty. Am I correct? I have no idea if its possible to get them back though, I just try to get them to a battle and kill them. If there are no hostiles nearby, just let them dry to death in their own bitterness.

    Man, how irritating. I lost 3 generals in one turn! Ahh... the Holy Roman non-Empire... lol

    And I didn't even adopt new family members! :p

    Yes, you can get them all back. The OP is talking about the rebellion system (offensive to nobles, obedient, disobedient, and locked trait lines), he's NOT talking about when a general turns into a rebel and leaves your faction due to low faction leader authority.

    You get your generals back to normal by getting your faction leader back to normal, you need your faction leader to lose his offensive to nobles trait.

    Here are the triggers that restore all your generals to normal:

    Trigger Civil_War_King_Gains_Control1
    WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd
    Condition IsGeneral
    and Trait Disobedient >= 1
    and FactionLeaderTrait Offensive_To_Nobles < 1
    Affects Obedient 1 Chance 100
    ;------------------------------------------
    Trigger Civil_War_King_Gains_Control2
    WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd
    Condition IsGeneral
    and Trait Obedient >= 1
    and FactionLeaderTrait Offensive_To_Nobles < 1
    Affects Disobedient 1 Chance 100
    ;------------------------------------------
    Trigger Civil_War_King_Gains_Control3
    WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd
    Condition IsGeneral
    and Trait Disobedient >= 1
    and FactionType slave
    Affects Obedient 1 Chance 100
    ;------------------------------------------
    Trigger Civil_War_King_Gains_Control4
    WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd
    Condition IsGeneral
    and Trait Locked = 1
    and FactionLeaderTrait Offensive_To_Nobles < 1
    Affects Locked -1 Chance 100

    Note that Disobedient can go above 1, so it can take a few turns, but you get -1 per turn to disobedient per turn until it gets to 0.

    So, how do you get rid of your faction leader's Offensive to Nobles trait line?
    Here you go:

    Trigger civil_war_king_regains_control1
    WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd
    Condition IsFactionLeader
    and Trait Offensive_To_Nobles >= 1
    and DistanceCapital < 50
    and Attribute Authority >= 6
    Affects Offensive_To_Nobles -1 Chance 50
    ;------------------------------------------
    Trigger civil_war_king_regains_control2
    WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd
    Condition IsFactionLeader
    and Attribute Chivalry > 4
    and DistanceCapital < 50
    and Trait Offensive_To_Nobles >= 1
    Affects Offensive_To_Nobles -1 Chance 10
    ;------------------------------------------
    Trigger Battle_HeroicBattleCommander2
    WhenToTest PostBattle
    Condition IsFactionLeader
    and Trait Offensive_To_Nobles > 1
    and WonBattle
    and PercentageEnemyKilled > 25
    and BattleOdds < 0.51
    Affects Offensive_To_Nobles -1 Chance 33

    Of course, this can make getting that Authority up a bit tougher:

    Trigger Authority_Loss_Over_Time
    WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd
    Condition IsFactionLeader
    and Trait Offensive_To_Nobles > 1
    and Attribute Authority > 1
    Affects KingsAuthority -1 Chance 10

    There is another way too: Since this whole thing is based on a faction leader trait, get your faction leader killed. This can backfire though, some of the triggers to start the whole Civil War thing are checked only when a new faction leader is created. But, it can be better to risk a chance that your next faction leader might be offensive to nobles than to deal with the fact that your current faction leader is already offensive.

    By the way, the advice most people give is to kill all your disobedient generals. This is idiotic. If you can't get your faction leader to lose his Offensive trait, you would be FAR better off killing just him, rather than all your disobedient generals. Kill 1 guy rather than several, AND so long as he remains Offensive ALL new generals must undergo the check for obedient vs disobedient, so over time you'll have more disobedient guys to worry about.

    Note that using your faction leader alone, or with minimal support, to kill any available rebel armies can help alot. You want the odds to be 1:2 or worse (ie, less than 50%). You get the 33% chance of a -1 to Offensive when you win, there are Authority traits that are triggered by combat especially low odds heroic wins, and there are Chivalry traits triggered by combat (though, there are dread traits too, but Battledread and Battlechiv are exclusive once you get a point in either). Worst case is a win for you too: if you faction leader dies in the battle, you're probably better off for it anyway.
