    Default Historical Generals

I found out that by recruiting ''General's Bodyguard'' and ''Admiral's Flagship'' you will get historical generals and admirals (with its respective traits) instead of a random name (actually the name of the general is the colonel of the regiment), now I'm only recruiting General's Bodyguards instead of promoting to get new general.
    Great job, CA.

By now I had recruited James FitzJames, Maurice de Saxe, and Gaspard de Clermont-Tonnerre as generals to replace the old marshals Villars and D'Hostun.

In my late 1810 campaign I got Napoleon Bonaparte in Quebec by just promoting to general. So I think that promoting to general will give you a percentage chance of getting a RL random general of that decade and nationality.

Nope. If you want to find out the name of your randomly spawned general, simply move the unit you want to promote out of the main army and see the name of the regiment's commander.
He will be the new general if you click the star.

ETW was not THAT unpolished after all.
Also in the episode 3 of the RTI campaign you can recruit Nathanael Greene in one of your starting armies' provincial cav.

Well, the names are mostly taken after historical g-rals (including Jack Lusted). There is chance of getting a historical one every time you recruit a Gen.Body or promote one, but I didn't knew there is a bigger chance for getting a historical one by recruiting. Nice tip, +rep

Jack Lusted is guy from CA, he is not meant to be historical. Also there were few more CA guys names in ETW!

If you want to see the randomly spawned general's name simply move the unit you want to promote out of the main army and you will see the name of its commander on top of the unit panel screen. After you click the ''promote'' button you will see the spawned general's name is the same as the commander of the single unit. (It saves a lot of time and effort to try and find a ''better'' name) It's not that random after all.
    Try it.

Campaign map, just right of the unit cards. You need to select a unit to recruit from. In my experience, a general from a unit type generally gets bonuses when commanding that unit type (in other words, recruit from cavalry, because your general counts as a cavalry unit himself)

There are two ways to recruit/promote generals:
    1. Click a unit, then click the star (''recruit general'') button in the unit panel. You will instantly receive a random general with the name of the officer of the regiment.
    2. Recruit General's Bodyguard from your military building. Needs a turn and slightly cheaper (if you have a good minister), but his name is historical.

I had not thought of this, good stuff! Thanks. I'd rep you but I think rookies like me can't do that. Or at least I see no button.
