Hey, I've just decided to reinstall my copy of RTW for Roma Surrectum II, but there is a problem during installation. Part way through, there is an error reading.
"access denied
(0x5) "
Does anyone know what's wrong?

0x5 error in Google got this:http://www.pc-library.com/errors/error-code/5-0x5/.
What Windows OS are you using?
Can you install it on another computer or even in another drive on that computer?
Well here's an update. I got it to install, but I had to make a new destination folder for RTW to install in. It works fine. But I had an old version of RTW on my comp and it won't let me delete it. It says I have no access.![]()

The game needs it. Leave it. Why? mss stands for Miles Sound System, the one CA uses for the Total War series.

You could try regedit to see if there are any mss32.dll entries tied to creative assembly folder and delete it there.
There is a brutal manual way but it would probably take your new install with it and that is what I'm trying to avoid.

Have you ever run regedit? Click Start > run > type regedit, enter.
In the menues is one to backup your registry. In your case, highly recommended.
Ctrl-f > type mss32.dll, enter.
Hit F3 for the next one and keep going until it runs out. Look at the location of the file. If it matches creative assmebly\rome, delete it.
If you find and delete it, and done, restart your computer, and you should be able to delete the folder.
