    Icon13 Your most supidest defeat.

My 100th post, so I decided to make this thread. M2TW has something similiar.

Mine: I had besieged corduba with a half stack as the scipii - it was Cathage's last town. They had some crap militia and two generals. I took the walls, killed almost evryone, save the generals. I just charged my 800 men straight at them - mostly full sized units and warmed up eith the morale state eager them being principes and cav auxilia. Guess what? The generals routed my army even though they were surrounded on all sides.

That has happened to me soooo many times :| Thats why I always have a general in every army now.

Probably when my scythed chariots went berserk and ran amok back through my entire army killing about 2800 men during a siege assault of some worthless village.

    ^now that is terrible
loosing 3 commissars ,3 archers and 3 of those (very light) infantry in BI against 2 generals, spear warband and 2 lombardi archers... that made my rage quit (in a siege!)

I think most of the defeats happen because generals are OP. But if you autoresolve it is even worse.

Generals are tanks. Forget Chariots and Cataphracts...

Saved me typing it . Nip off to the loo, forget to press pause...return to the fray....Clobbered.

Many an enemy has survived a thrashing because Commander Fireright was bursting for a pee

Lol, has happened to me as well Nyxos.

Those were pretty suicidal battles anyways.

Anyway, my worst, (or stupidest,) defeat was when I sent four units of Plumbtarii and Elephant archers versus the Sassinid Persian Faction Leader. I sent my Elephants in AFTER I had my Plumbatarii empty all of their darts into the Faction leader's unit- what is that? Four darts per man, 161 men per unit times four units = 4 x 161 x 4 = 2576 darts. Apparently thats not enough to kill one unit bodyguard. Anyhow, sent my Elephants in after that and actually managed to kill a few men but then they routed and my Plumbatarii were doomed.

That is the clibinarii immortal general. The most awesomest unit evaaar. Almost 30 armour, huge defence skill, 2 hitpoints, the general himself may have like 12, and 80 to ~100 men per unit. That is, for the faction leader. Plus it has a missile attack and a mace. Insane. Note the underlined word - this time it is true, unlike the one unit in Alexander.

Playing as Britannia, I was fighting some Gauls at a bridge. After a long and grueling battle, I had almost completely annihilated them, except for two units of swordsmen across the river in the trees. While my army was crossing the bridge to destroy them, I sent the general (also the faction leader) after some leftovers (skirmishers who were fleeing, near the river) Apparently the general's chariot got too close to the river, his chariot fell to pieces and he and his horses randomly died. The swordsmen attacked my men at the bridge, without the general, they all fled, the gaulic swordsmen following and slaying most of what was left of my army. All for some stinking skirmishers.

I suppose the Benny Hill theme was playing in the background after your general died.

Well that's why they have the name immortal . I like to group my faction leader, heir and some general in to one army plus some light inf for sap and use them as strike force.

    Isn't that sort of risky?
If you lose the battle there's a real chance you just lost your administration with it.

I hate those "random" accidents as well as autoresolve. The computer plots them and executes them in great secrecy, making them look random, but as it is stupid, it doesn't know that when random things happen often, it is starting to look suspicious.

    @Simium: Indeed

@Rhinhonhinho: The worst part was that they weren't even crossing the bridge, the skirmishers were fleeing on my side, just by the river.

If you have got a general or two in an army, you can't lose.

    Hi there.
Once, after having followed an enemy army 1/4 the size of my own for 4 or 5 turns, I ran into an ambush....I was too weak to take the fight, so I retreated......... Two seconds after having retreated I remembered that my army had no movement left, and so was lost.....

On MTW1 I always lost as the Italians, always. No matter the reason, I never won as them. Once I had all my remaining family members (three) dead on the same battle.

But on RTW I only had really dumb losses from auto-resolve.

Recently I tried to win a fight against rebels, they are very easy no? Well it depends.

I had 1 green round shield and 1 green skirmisher facing 1 samnite plus 1 militia hoplite. I was not amused at the result. Then tried to command.

    Even worse.
