    Default Gaming pc.

    Hi guys.

Would you guys be able to recommend a good gaming system capable of running NTW on high? Budget is about $500 though. And if you link me any sites please make sure they are Australian.

    Thanks, in advance.

Tell us your current system specs, getting a whole new pc might be too drastic to do.

I'm on the family pc but here goes,

    Intel Core2 Quad2 Q6700 2.66ghz
    Nvidia 9500 GS 512 MB
    3gb RAM
    Windows 7 Ultimate.

Hmm it seems you have a motherboard with a LGA 775 cpu socket.

I have one too, but it's outdated, I'm getting a whole new pc because my whole rig is crap atm.

For you, I'd suggest getting yourself a new motherboard with an LGA 1156 socket, a new gpu and maybe even a new cpu.

I think with your 500 dollars, this is doable.

Getting an entire system that will play NTW on high will be near impossible with that budget I'm afraid.

Will this new PC be your own? Or will you share it with your family?

Upgrading the system you posted above, should be possible for $500 though

Step 1: Buy this CPU cooler. $100.

Step 2: Buy this graphics card. $275.

Step 3: Buy this RAM. $120.

    Total Price: $495.

    Step 4: Overclock.
    That's the upgrade path.

You will need to overclock to get great performance at higher resolutions.

That graphics card on it's own can probably handle whatever NTW throws at you, but it's a proven overclocker. That's the same reason for the CPU cooler as well. The RAM is just there because it might help a little.

An overclocked Q6770 is as good as any Phenom II or Core i5.

Honestly, Ishan is right, you won't be able to get a complete system for $500 that can run NTW on high at anything more than 1280x1024 at best.

Yeah I know this it just pissed me off a tad that all he posted was that little whistling emoticon before he edited it.

I'm also going to pull out my old, old system tomorrow and see what I can scavenge. Probably not much but it's worth a shot.

EDIT: How would this fair on NTW? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....=STRK:MEWAX:IT
The text is a little scrambled and this is what I could make out of it.

    HDD:western digital calvar green power 500gb/7200rpm 16mb sata 3gbs
    Case:
ntech hbc-863 beige tower case 550w
    CPU:
amd athlon 64x2 dual core 5200+2.7ghz,am2
    GFX(?):
    gigabyte r465oc-1gi 600mhz,radeon hd 4650 1 g,ddr2
    RAM:
    kingston ddr2 4gb pc-6400/800,2x2gb,cl5 value ram
    MOB:
    asus m2n68 amd mainboard-4x ddr2/4x sata raid/1x ide/gigabit lan
    DVD disc reader:
pioneer dvr-216 sata dvd re writer/20x black

Will this new PC be your own? Or will you share it with your family?
The new system shall be mine, unless I can get the parents to chip in upping the budget a tad, though wish me luck with that.

I would, believe me I would, but the problem is the system I'm meant to be upgrading is not mine. Why should I put in almost $500 for the family computer which I get booted off of whenever Dad feels the need to look at his ungodly footy forums, or listen to godly music? (Zeppelin FTW)

1280x1024 most likely. Unless it's a CRT monitor (those things are massive). But 1024x768 is also a possible resolution, that makes things a little easier, however it's still pretty much impossible unless you can get a little budget increase. Either that, or you could go shopping for 2nd hand parts.

Where do you live in Australia btw? If you are looking for a case, I may be interested in selling you this case minus the power supply if the shipping isn't too bad. For perhaps ~$75.

Just had a stroke of genius.
My old pc is crap but, I could sell it on ebay. Probably for 200 - 350 bucks. That could help.

MSY for price (pickup only), PC Case Gear overall. PC Case Gear is the closest thing to newegg here in Aus. Which is quite sad. It's a great store though. MegaBuy has a great range too, Fozdike uses it, but the shipping is crazy imo.
