    Default What SS Changes...

Hello everyone, I'm new to SS (although I have played TA) and want to get a general overview of what this mod adds to the total war experience. Looking on the 6.3 download thread, it mainly just lists the changes from previous versions, mostly bugfixes.

Also, whats the difference between early and late campaigns (I know the factions change, but what else?)

Thanks in advance for the info

Well late let you start more advanced. Also mongols invade. Very hard campaign especially playing with romans, khwarezm or crusader states.
you have complete new unitrooster for romans(CBUR), new events such as bulgarian uprising in early campaign....and many more
Just read some topics...and play the game

Huh..well, there's a lot frankly But generally, the americas were removed in favour of the east, more factions, reworked map (provinces changed), new units....a lot. SS is just an entire overhaul soooo it'll take too long to list them.

I suggest you just play it, as dominion said

SS as I read about the changes feels... overmodded.

    Delra,

Would you mind to elaborate as to what you feel as been over modded?

On looking at your comment, this could mean many different things, which at this point I don't really want to guess at

Also I would be very interested in a total list of all the changes from vanilla -> 6.3, but I doubt anyone has made one ?
The game development business is one of bottomless greed, pitiless cruelty, venal treachery, rampant competition, low politics and boundless personal ambition. New game series are rising, and others are starting their long slide into obscurity and defeat.

I would say that sums it up well.

    add to it:
    -new traits
    -new ancillaries
    -building characteristics changed.....etc.

    It's a complete overhaul.

These things have always been changed, they've just evolved a bit from the last version.

How detailed should that be? You would be in for a wall of text.

For everyone wondering, it can't hurt to start by reading the past versions release posts/notes.
    As in v3->v4->v5->v6->Current.

Not to mention the new ai, which for me would be reason enough to play SS.

Also can't stress enough how good the new strat map and units look.

    question about ancillaries:

say you have a general with a title ancillary (like Duke of York) and they die. Will their heir get the trait, or will it disappear? Also wondering if the same thing happens with crowns and "King of _" ancillaries...

I'm almost certain its the next general/family memeber who stays in that settlement for a turn.

Once an ancillary like that disappears, it can be gained by another character.
So when your king dies, the new king can gain the "King of x" ancillary, but if you no longer fulfill the requirements (due to having lost one or more of the settlements required), he won't get it ofc. But AFAIK, it won't disappear either if you stop fulfilling the requirements, only when your king dies.
