    Default General Speeches

Hey all. I've been researching this for a couple hours now and not gotten anywhere, so I figure I'll just ask and see what I come up with. I'm playing a campaign as Denmark and noticing that all the pre battle speeches are just the short one liners. I know they use the eastern European accent, can anybody tell me if the mp3 files are there, and if so if it would be possible to set it up to have longer speeches like in vanilla? I've looked thru the config files and it looks like longer speeches are possible with English, French, and Mediterranean accents... do the files exist to make the same thing happen with the other accents?

The answer elsewhere was that there are just more one lines then long battlespeaches so chances higher to get one liners.

I believe that only certain factions have ever had the long speeches, probably as you mentioned, the English, French and Mediterranean factions. The rest have had to make do with one liners ever since vanilla.

    This is my personal favourite:

Medieval2 sounds are totally changeable and their is not a single hardcoded part in it.

Well the exact specific word for this topic is Prebattle Speeches(acc to M2). There are 49 one liners for every accent type so that doesn't makes Denmark any different.

These speeches are based on the generals trait if he is chivalrous then we will get some speeches displaying his chivalrous character and hear vice-versa for a Dread general. Now this is applied to the Scottish, English, German and

Now the one liners are spoken mostly by captains (coz they don't have any traits).

We can create a new trait like for eg. Lionheart with an epithet for a general and then give him a specific set of prebattle speeches acc to our snd files.

All the prebattle speeches are .mp3 files Like for eg for east_euro accent the file name for one liners are:-

So you can place a new file with the same filename under this directory so that u hear it:-
    SS/data/sounds/Voice/Human/Localized/Pre_Battle_Speech

    Hope this helps.

My generals always comment about the enemy smelling. I thought everyone smelled during Medieval times.

I guess the real insult was "The enemy are a bunch of soap-users!"

On topic, I believe the reason that all factions have oneliner speeches
    is because the descr_sound.db
in the SS6.3\data folder has every faction listed as using one liners...
just edit that file and remove all the factions from it,
    and give it a shot...
I'm about to try that out myself.

take a look at the export_descr_sounds_prebattle.txt file, it shows all these different mp3s for french, english, and mediterranean, but for the others it just has one liners. I've also tried to find these mp3s, to no avail, anybody know where they are? I look in my data/sounds/voice/human/localized folder, but all I have is another folder titled "advice", there is no folder or file titled "pre_battle_speech like the txt file would have me believe... it seems like you could be able to assign certain one liners to certain situations using that txt file, but without knowing where the mp3's are or how to access them, i'm stuck. could they be packed in the main m2tw directory somewhere?

I disabled speech after hearing only 3-4 prebattle speeches .. are you guys really sitting there listening to those same speeches over and over again before you fight the battles?

some of us are new enough that we haven't heard them all =P and getting the funny crazy ones is always entertaining.

I tried deleting the one liner files in the sounds_db file, all that did was make it so the camera would move around like there was a speech and had the army cheering at odd intervals, but the general was completely mute. I'm just going to live with the one liners for now, maybe my next campaign I'll pick a faction that I think I can get the speeches out of.
