    Default Am i mistaken!?

I am playing ExRM, as the ROmans and just spread into Greece! However I noticed I can't train or even retrain my LEgions, only diplomats and some spearmen, after 40+turns of building!

    WTF?

Can I only recruit legions in Italy!? If so then , for gameplay and historical accuracy
Passing on to describe the way in which Napoleon employed ‘principles’ or ‘ingredients’ for the prosecution of War, it must from the outset be understood that his strategical and tactical systems followed no closely ruled pattern. Every operation was unique; no two were ever quite the same. However, the underlying every Campaign and battle were certain fundamental, which were applied according to circumstances.

    1. It is better to post this in the ExRM forum. That is where questions on ExRM are answered.

    2. Roman armies of hastati, principes and triarii were never recruited outside of Italy. The Marian legionaries were only recruited outside of Italy in much later times, when Citizenship was extended to many other peoples, but afaik ExRM allows you to recruit legionaries outside of Italy after a certain building level.

that building would be the roman citizenship lvl building, historically romans were recruited only in Rome (though in game we also have Capua, for game-play purposes) so you shouldn't be building citizen lvl building for a long time. Thus you have to keep a steady supply if you wish to keep the roman component in your legions intact, but eventually you'll come to rely on mercenaries and AOR troops the farther away you are.

To solve this dilema of troop supply, I always recommend you make at least one city within a region your supply hub for troops, that way you can trickle out units for garrison and army operations and not have too rely too much on mercs. Plus if what i'm told about 4.0 is true morale will take a hit and its better to be able to rely on AOR or romans troops then mercs who will route more easily, so consider this the start of good game habits.
