[RS AAR] Stone or Sand Foundations?
This is my first shot at writing an AAR. I am currently in the middle of my exams at the moment so an update won't be for a while (at least a week). Game is played on M/M and I hate phalanxes and HA (as I am bad at countering them).
I decided to start this AAR as I am in the middle of my Roman campaign an am stuck with hostiles on all sides. I thought this might make for a good AAR. All comments are welcome. Please tell me if you want the images of the commanders of each of the legions. Also, I did not number them as I forgot the order which I trained them.
Introduction
My name is Secundus Scaevola, son in law of the late Vihius Maxentius. During the days of my predecessor, Servius Paulinus, the empire expanded in all directions. We seized Macedonia, parts of Gaul and Illyria. However, those days are over. Macedon may have been destroyed, the empire filled the air with shouts of joy. But the troubles have begun. Germania and thrace seize the opportunity of our weakness and launched wave after wave of men against our newly conquered town of Helis. To the west, Gaul is relentlessly throwing men at the walls of Lugdunum. They may be succeeding, I fear. Appius Maxentius, governor of Lugdunum, is doing a magnificent job of holding off the unwashed barbarians. But is getting old and there is no one capable and young enough to step into his shoes. Combine this with the constant dissatisfaction of the people there and we have a nightmare. The empire's coffers aren't doing too well. The recent invasions have forced us to spend an untold amount on new troops and defenses; an amount the economy cannnot keep up.
