    Default Script Error

I tried downloading the special edition, but when I try to run a campaign (the main one and the reunited kingdom) I get this message:

"Script Error in bi\ci/data/export_descr_unit.text, at line 34, column 18.

Unrecognised mount type '4amount rotkh'. "

Is this just an installation/download error, or do I have to do something else to fix it?

You have to patch your BI to 1.6 before installing, as per the instructions. Delete the "bi/ci" folder, apply the BI 1.6 patch and then re-install FATW.

According to the options screen I currently have 1.6. Will I have to reinstall anyway (is this problem only for people without 1.6)? I ask this mainly because it's hard to find a version of 1.6 that'll work with RTW gold. As far as I know, the only way to do it is to move RTW to the default folder (Activision instead of The Creative Assembly), since that should be where the 1.6 exe looks for it. I'd rather not go through all that trouble for nothing, though.

Sounds a bit like a possible install error.

It refers to the mount not being found, on the very first unit entry in the EDU.
Check that your descr_mount.txt is the right one for FATW, that it has a entry that says "######### Fatw MOUNTS" about halfway down the text-file, with the appropriate entries including "4amount rotkh"

I don't seem to have a descr_mount.txt file. Where exactly is it?

There should be one in the bi/ci/data folder. if there isn't, there's something wrong with the installation.

    In bi/ci/data, I have custom_locations.txt, export_descr_buildings, and export_descr_unit.txt, but no descr_mount.txt . I guess I should re-download and re-install it.

    Thanks for the help!

Edit: apparently I was stupid and didn't see the "Requires TNS 2.6 (BI version)" for the special edition info.

TNS 2.6 is the full build, so yeah, you'll need that before WoM, which is a 'patch' sort of.

About the mount file, one thing I have been wondering about.

I've been tinkering a bit with the txt files, I can't do any of the graphic stuff, but tinkering with values in RTW is pretty simple and a reason for why I love this game.
Anyways, one value that I cannot find in any txt file is the movement speed of units on the tactical map.

I think that at least for cavalry, it is their mount that decides their speed, as well as their mass.

But where do that speed value come from? From the actual skeleton model? And same for infantry, since there is some infantry that is faster than other, but they have no mount and no value in the EDU that I can find that can relate to speed.

Relative battlemap speed depends on the animation the skeleton of the unit model uses.

The mod is awesome! I have 2 quick questions, though.

    1) Is there a way to make the "Grey Company" bodyguards not go into melee? They're archers, but they generally fire one volley and then charge.
    2) Why is the AI allowed to build siege units instantly (or is it even intended)? Twice now Harad laid siege to a city of mine, and instantly attacked it with a single battering ram before I could move the large army I had right next to the city to help.

    1. White Company is a 'precursor' unit, in order to avoid a hardcoded RTW bug that sometimes makes units classified as archers not fire when the enemy is in range, but instead walk until they are very close to them. So, you need to set them to fire at will.

    2. The AI cannot build rams instantly. if they attack you on the very first turn they lay siege, it's because they have Mumakil (elephant type units are hardcoded to be able to attack gates and wooden walls).

Ok, I must have forgotten to do that. Normally I set them to that anyway, but I must not have noticed that they didn't have it automatically.

That's strange, because they did get rams instantly. In one of the sieges one of the two Harad armies had Mumakil, but the other got a ram instantly. And in the second battle they didn't have Mumakil, but they still attacked instantly with a ram.

I've never encountered that before. What difficulty setting are you playing on?

At any rate it's not something mod-specific.

I'm playing on M/M. I'll see if I can replicate it in a different session.
