    Default Princesses=usless

Can anyone make a sub mod or simply add to the game a 75% chance of having a boy. I think it's at 50% and princesses are just well... usless. Not only to have a pure bloodline but to stop those random campaigns where I have my entire family made up of girls. And then I lose when my last son dies. I have had too many campaigns end like that. And while I'm here, recruitable generals? This would improve the game a whole lot. Or maybe an option to kill the baby or wife if it's a girl... Historicaly it was done. I just forgot who and don't care a whole lot to research it.

    Assassins = Dread. The end.

there are already recruitable generals, but they require a fortress and I think a really high stable to make, and it takes like 8 turns (or even MORE with rr/rc) to refresh, making them useless.

Theres probably a reason for it, but i miss having as many charachters as i wanted. Saved me having to keep every single FM locked in a city or castle driving them to insanity (litterally, lol) just for the economy/population boosts.

Well recruitable generals are possible just add them to any recruit pool in the EDB(export_descr_buildings.txt)file.

yeah true. I think the logic behind it is that generals bodyguards are really tough, so they dont want generals to get spammed.

Solution would be to raise the upkeep on the bodyguard units and force players to wait a while to get a new general from a settlement.

Besides that though, i think they should be recruitable in the core buildings for cities and up, and for castles and up. That way you could still have plenty of generals without necessarily making entire armies of them. Just my thoughts though.

On topic: I like princesses for securing alliances via marriage. I actually find they help so much on higher campaign difficulties, when a faction will outright refuse alliance even if i offer him my arm and leg for it. Instead, i offer to marry my princess (or vice versa) to their heir with an inconsequential dowry and poof, were bedfellows (litterally ! well... sort of). Relations also seem fairly high as long as the couples around too, which saves me some grief. The AI is still a nutter, and will probably stab you in the back, but hey, at least its something.

    Princesses are certainly not useless....

My lady's were sent to various parts of Europe and each came back with a loyal 5+ Star general bearing the English flag!!!

Seriously, playing 6.3 as England my 3 greatest generals were ones that my princesses married. Portugal, Aragon, Poland and France, all "donated" amazing generals to the crown. Whats really cool is my faction heir is the grandson of the English King and the former Polish King. So maybe I may have to invade Poland and claim my birthright.

And this is how the medieval world worked.. lots of legitimate 'house' claims to foreign lands and thrones

Nothing quite so annoying as sending aprincess half way across europe to 'seduce' a general just for her to run off with him! ;-)

I don't know about anyone else but if I send a princess off doing diplomacy for 5 or so turns she tends to build up charm fairly easily. The foreign family members you can end up getting with a high charm princess are far better than the family members you get from sons coming of age. Admittedly, these princesses are only available as daughters of the leader or heir but on the whole, give me a high charm princess over a son coming of age any time.

optimum charm for foreign princesses if you want your FH to marry them is about 5 - too mych charm and they becoming overbearing.

generally though be creative with your princesses - they are far from useless.

and stop worrying about "pure" bloodlines - that way madness lies.

    Uhm...

I don't really see how they are useless.
    1. Conduct diplomacy
    2. Forge stronger alliances through marriage
    3. Bring generals not within the family tree under it
    4. Luring enemy generals onto your side

Like it was said, there is a way to change it, but I don't see why having a family tree filled with princesses would ruin your game as any one of them can marry and continue the family...

Then it is madness I seek.

You are right but daughters that are not princesses are kind of a bummer though coz usually they get the most ugliest and the most impotent marriage proposals.

I'm glad someone caught on to that.

And this is merely an oppinion but I prefere family blood over "great" generals. I fight all battles on the battle map so what do I care? A small morale boast? And generally the factions that you have to use princesses to secure alliances with are factions that you should be at war with like the Teutonic Order having an alliance with the Lithanians, which to me is stupid. And I'm sorry if someone didn't read my post thoroughly, but I ment girl family members in general. Sooo Women=Useless.

Nah man, what you may have missed is each faction has different traits. I had my heir marry a smoking hot siclian, and when daughters came of age they were 7-8 hearts. I took two venetian family members, and one german. Venice has +3 trade, so each princess that brought home Venetian blood made me rich. German family has + law, so I put that new son-in-law in my capital and its growing like a weed. A hot princess is a total hook up....
