    Default Napoleon : Persistent CTD

    Every time I take control of a battle in Napoleon or Empire I crash to desktop within 1-2 minutes. I have time to place some units possibly even hit start battle before I crash. I have yet to experience a crash during the campaign map.

    I have verified the file integrity using the steam tool twice now.
    I have reinstalled napoleon and empire.
    Just yesterday I updated to a 64 bit OS
    I have updated all my drivers for both my videocard and onboard sound
    I have completed all windows updates
    I have tried battles both with and without the hotseat option enabled.
    I have tried battles on lowest graphics settings and even lower by turning off shadows/reducing shaders.

    I have basically tried a fresh start for my pc all in hopes that this would rectify the problem since I have thoroughly enjoyed the total war series until now and would love to try the Empire and Napoleon franchises however neither seem to want to run a single battle under my control.

    Hoping someone can help because I would really love to play either of these titles. Thank you to anyone that looks at this and double thanks to anyone that can actually help me resolve this issue!

    Yes Irishron that's where I got the driver for the onboard sound I haven't downloaded any of the bios drivers or the SATA raid support since I'm fairly certain my bios doesn't effect napoleon and I can't run a raid setup without getting another HD. but I did install the rest just now and still crashes.

    Not equipped to monitor either if you have a handy tool to recommend I'd be willing to give it a try. Re-installing Napoleon from scratch instead of from a steam backup now will see if that works. If it doesn't I'll come back and post the exact error.

    Another thing that occurs to me is that my Nvidia card is just one step up from the minimum spec requirements so I could just be suffering from old tech even if the card isn't that old itself.

    It could possibly be. 256mb is minimum dedicated memory. I have a 512mb 9800GT of which a clock step up from yours and the next generation of games will probably make it next to obsolete.
