I have a little question shieldwall is good? how and when should i use it?

technically it's excellent against any frontal charge.....beware not to get outflanked.

You get a good defense bonus versus frontal charges, however, your unit is going to be slower and very vulnerable versus flanking an rear attacks.
And if your unit does not have a proper number of ranks a powerful charge (as to heavy cavalry) is going to break the formation.

Actually, the shieldwall improves resistance from any angle.
