All my saves dissapeared!!!

I was going to get on to play some RTW - Diadochi and all my saved scores were gone.

To make matters worse all my saves on my other modfoldered mods in the same RTW install were gone along with vanilla scores and even my RTW mods that aren't modfoldered and are in seperate installs of the game.

The only possible significant action I took on my computer since last playing was to turn UAC off earlier today. I checked all my saves folders in my different RTW installs. Inside the saves folder in each install there is another folder entitled saves and next to this folder there are two files entitled autosave and seleucids.

I really don't know what to do and I would rather not lose all the campaigns that I have put hours and hours into, so if someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it!!!

Edit: I solved the problem. Go figure. I turned UAC off and restarted the computer and this fixed the problem. No idea why this affected anything as I am the only user on the single account on my computer, but whatever. If anyone knows how to turn UAC off (I'm wanting to do this in order to install a mod that recommends having it turned off) and still keep my saved scores then let me know. Thanks in advance for any help.

Which folder did you install the game to and what OS are you using?

The folder c:\program files (x86) is protected under Windows Vista and 7. Any changes you make to the game (saves, replays, preferences) etc will end up in the 'Virtual Store'.

The path to that will be something like c:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly....

I play RTW on both Vista ans 7 with UAC off - I've also installed RTW into my own program files folder which results in the saves, replays and preferences being in folders inside the RTW folder. I just found it easier that way.

*Sigh* Yes, they are in c:\program files (x86). So no way to keep access to those saves with UAC off? I tried starting a score, saving, exiting the game, and then loading it up when I had UAC off so I know I can access saved games made after I turned it off, but is there any way to access those saves I made with UAC on? Do I just move them from their current location into the RTW folder? I wouldn't mind just reinstalling into the correct location, but my friend lost my first disc for RTW.... I still have it via steam, but not much help for reinstalling.

Yes, the easiest way is to move the old saves from the folder where they are at the moment to the place where the new saves are. The game will run OK with them.

If you ever have to uninstall there is no reason why you can't simply put your saves and replays onto a USB memory stick or even burn them onto a CD-ROM for later use (or any other media to be honest).

I'd suggest creating a 'games' program folder and installing any new games into that rather than the c:\program files (x86) so you can avoid similar problems in the future.
