    Default "Pure" Bloodline

How do I get a "Pure" Bloodline = All family members have last name. I understand it would require having alot of male family members, but what to do with those princesses? Just keep ignoring them until they become too old? I don't want my line to die out simply because I want my Leader's surname to last throughout the ages lol

I consider a pure bloodline meaning has the "{FACTION NAME} Blood" trait. The last name doesn't mean so much. Princesses can marry off and get this to continue on, I believe. Although it might be a 50% chance her children have it, I'm not sure and I can't find it

I don't understand why you have to cheat? The royal family blood is passed through royal princesses or generals born from earlier royal princesses or generals. If they aren't, they simply aren't

of days ago, I did it with my french campaign and all the princesses turned out to be hideous or gorgons. I DONT SUGGEST DOING INCEST

Thats just bad luck. Afaik the game doesn't consider that - and on a realism note its royalty

I've married my family members inside the family over two generations now in my current campaign. Nothing bad seems to happen. Although, my family tree was SPOILED. My plan was to marry a french family member to my princess to get the capet name in my family tree on the far right side (left side being original family name). But unfortunately all of the children the mr capet had had random scottish surnames. Then somehow mr capet became faction heir... I'm gonna have to suicide him. Like i've had to kill off loads of other family members because they became heirs/leaders when they really didn't have the right.

Its a game and its a valid option in that game - its up to personal preference if you want to use it.
I've nuked whole countries and killed millions - in games. That aside Royal families throughout history were known for inbreeding - why do you think so many of them have Haemophilia...

Keep this topic about bloodlines and effective management.

Only the faction heir and the faction leaders daughters will not be ugly.

Depending on your faction, this can be well worth doing. For instance, Poland gives a +2 (10%) MP bonus to all generals of pure blood. Has to go through the male line from original faction leader. There's a separate trait line for generals of royal blood but passed through a princess that's married outside the family, there are no bonuses for any faction from this trait line that I'm aware of.

Note that the birth rate, as well as offers of marriage, vary based on your current ratio of generals/provinces. So, after a bit of time, you'll have the same number of generals you'd have otherwise. It does however result in having fewer available generals early in the game, which can be a problem.

Another method that's a bit of a compromise is to let your game start princesses marry, they'll have a bunch of kids of course and you'll have the same number of generals you'd normally have early on. Then, weed these out by simply not allowing the next generation of generals/princesses to marry (though incestual marriage of princess to a prince of the blood is fine) if they're not of pure blood.

If you're playing a version of the game that allows recruitment of generals, this can be helpful also. Just don't marry them to a princess and don't accept any Man of the Hour offers.

Frankly, after a month or so playing vanilla when m2tw first came out, I stopped accepting any adoptions or Man of the Hour offers, I wish there was a game option to turn these off.

if you have to many princeses, this might be interesting( i use it too)

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=251072

it makes princeses(not the active ones) retire faster, and open a new family slot.

    real easy change

Seems too artificial for me. I am trying to simply keep the faction leader to have the same last name. Oddly enough, in my current game as France, the crown keeps passing to the younger males. Mostly because they are the only sons having sons. I will adopt, but not with my current faction leader or heir. Also I was able to marry a princess from one side of the family tree all the way over to the other. There was quite a bit of space on the tree between the leader and heir that time.

princess marring uncles, nephews, cousins, i've done it all. i love it. can spread around of 'blood' trait. once had general who was spanish, portuguess, aragonese, french, scottish and english, and i'm sure it was before 100 turns. it helped that kings brothers kept becoming heirs, helped me spread out traits, before sons were of age. king married portugese, prince spanish. king dies, new prince marries french. king dies, new prince marries aragon. one of the before mentioneds daughters stole english general. through inbreeding of there daughters and sons i got a great general.
    can't wait for LAST KINGDOM
