Simple General Help

Someone should have opened a General help thread, that you can fill with "simple" questions, such as the one i posted about color editing, or the one i read about quotes, maybe post them here so as to "clean" the forums a little bit... just a thought

So ill open them with an easy one i would think, maybe not

can someone take the time to explain exactly what the "kings purse" does in the descr_strat and how changing the values may effect how the a.i. reacts or what it does to the player too

I believe (don't quote me on this unless I'm right ) that the kings purse is a set amount of money that faction recieves each turn no matter what. The AI getting more money means the AI building bigger armies. And if you check the campaign script in mods (maybe even vanilla) the AI gets a bigger purse based on the difficulty.

Thanks omega, thats good to know if thats what it is, and i have noticed the increase in some scripts that the ai recieve due to difficulty

The problem with a general help thread is that before long all the answers are lost amidst hundreds of posts, unless the first post is kept up to date with an index (which requires quite a lot of work).

To be fair, the search function works too well for this to be needed. Although, judging from the number of new threads about very common topics it seems most users don't use the search function at all.

i agree that the answers wil most likely get lost amongst the posts, but yes well ive come to notice the search thread is sometimes a little lacking and points you in a very wierd direction from time to time, and this could be daunting to some of the newer people to the thread
just thought perhaps it would help organize the forums a little better, use this thread to ask the simple question thats been asked 100 times and ask it 100 times again, and alot of people im sure quickly glance at the topics at hand and then realize what they are lookin for isnt there and start a new thread that lasts... 3 posts when all they had to do was search

I use advanced google search to look up things in the forum.
Check the very first find.
