No I agree. However the various Khans of the Golden Horde resided far far far off the map and in this period the region around the Tsardoms map was at their very frontier, and as far as I know in this region the frontier was essentially local ethnic states that were held to the authority of huge horde garrisons. The actual infrastructure occured more east of the crimea. Isn't that the case?

Also if you look at the foreign policy of various Khans they were not that concerned with the areas west of the Crimea. With the exception of Nogai, weren't all the golden Horde Khans from Tochta onwards more concerned with expanding their eastern frontier?

I dont know about expanding east- there were other mongol kigdoms.I know more about the western frontier ( and the constant battle with the russian principalities ).The Golden Horde was very political active with the Mameluks which were their allies.Thats why exactly from egyptian documents and historians we know about most of the Golde Horde history.

But Lithuania officially converted to Christianity only one-two years after the union of Krewo. And it expectedly had enough Christian influence before that. Besides, if a Lithuanian faction is included to show the Polish-Lithuanian Union, it would be more than logical to make it Christian, due to the Polish side (and the quickly converted Lithuanian one).

yeah i know. but when i was speaking of pagan, i thought of lithuania alone, cause they were around kiev before union. so 20-30 years before.

I vote Moldova, because the way I understand the mod, the emphasis should be on South-East Europe and the Ottoman conquest of this part of the world. The Golden Horde was also involved, of course, but if present, I think it should be non-playable.

I like the Moldova faction, but have just two questions:
- If present, will it just be a Wallachia clone?
- Technically, Moldova was not a sovereign Principality until 1359, 14 years and potentially 56 turns after the start of the mod (assuming 4 turns per year). Does this mean it will be therefore emerging and non-playable?

True, Moldova was not fully independent until 1359, but the principality had been founded 1343 as a Hungarian vassal state. So it did exist as a separate entity since 1343.

no, not fully clone. they will share some units

i was thinking about that, but vanilla vassalage is so bad. i think duce could fix some stuff. it'll be good for vassal state to pay some tax to it's protector, and give some troops, but instead, protector has to protect that faction. ai of vassalage has to be improved

yup, in the start of game there will be historical set. also about cities, no more undeveloped cities. it's XIV century, most of the citise were developed. that's why the first level of city is fortified. also, there will be room for players to upgrade, but some cities will be able to recruit stronger units (not to start with peasants)

That sounds like what the Roma Surrectum 2 team are doing, separate mod foldered campaigns for every faction. That would be beautiful, but i am guessing the work would be huge. Maybe one time in the future after the first versions of tsardoms are released...we can only dream
