Default AP ranged troops and rebalancing for SS6.3 (early era)

    hi everyone....

this small mod fixes some of the issues in the EDU

    for example :
1.all gunpowder, javelin, and some archer units given the missing "AP" attribute.
2.some of the unit numbers were also rebalanced- sherwood archers now have 60 men, forlorn hope, hashashins, battlefield assassins now have 48 men (in low army settings)
    3. some of the unit stats were also fixed- late musketeers being less effective than the normal musketeers
and few other fixes that i cant remember at the moment...

    directions:
make a backup of the export_descr_unit.txt located on your stainless steel 6.3 data directory
then replace it by the one on the attachment

P.S. you can also download the projectile.txt to make all the missile troops/artillery slightly more accurate (dont forget to make a backup)

P.S.S. I've added the modified descr_strat which prevents your family members to rebel (however captains still do rebel)

P.S.S.S some comments or +rep would be nice

Maybe change the title to AP ranged troops and rebalancing for 6.3 or something similar just to make it clear what your submod does and for what version it can be used.

    First post:
Thanks. I was wandering why the missile units were weak in the game.

Is this a 6.3 EDU? I doubt it.
After downloading it, I tried to edit some Scholarii's stats. And I don't see any scholarii stat(using Find Tool in Notepad++).And as I am used to with 6.3 EDU, the last stat of the unit is the Tribal Warrior but I only see the Norman Catapult. Did you mod EDU more or do you have some other sub-mods added or simply having mis-modded the file from 6.1. I found Byzantine Infantry which doesn't even exist in 6.3. Or maybe you mis-uploaded the 6.1 EDU.

You're welcome. And thanks for the rep. I have been hungry for a rep. Hunting down the newbies' questions and giving them impressive ans: will earn rep easily. But since I stick to SS forum, I hardly go back to M2TW general discussion forum and can't seem to get newbies' questions. Quite happy with this rep. Make my 4 gold rings a Fleur de lis.

EDIT: I think EDU is not changed in late era too. So It may also works with late era setting.

Just uploaded the descr_strat file which comments out the character rebellion parts.... I just didnt like the part where i would create a strong army with a good family member only to find out the next turn that he rebelled.....so basically this descr_strat file doesnt allow the family members to rebel.... however captains can still rebel against you.....

And I think you also make the forts to provide full-stack free-upkeep.
When you are called against a crusade or a jihad, build 8 forts and keep producing 8 full stack army and garrison them in each of the 8 forts which will provide all upkeep and cost you no wages. Then with no cost of garrisons, you will muster a huge army and take out the damn crusaders and jihadists on the way before they get to their doom, the infidels' city fortified with 8 full-stacked forts with no upkeep costing you.

I've limited the free upkeep in forts to 5 units in the RozMod (with perm forts)

the AI doesn't take the free upkeep allowance into consideration (it gets the free upkeep just doesn't check before deciding where to place units)
    - any more and it becomes an easy exploit for human players to park expensive units in them to save money.
