Default Problems with save game file for hotseat campain

one of the players in our interclan hotseat campain is having trouble, ive tryed to help best i can with no luck.

when he trys to load the save game it trys to load but then returns back to the main menu, its like hes trying to load a save game for a different patch/version of mtw2 but he has the correct version.

ive hosted a multi player game to see if he could join,he did so that means he has correct version

he has sent me his save game files,i can load them no problem.

it seems when ever a file is sent to him he cant load it,ive tryed sending different files just to make sure it wasnt a corupt file but he cant load any

has anyone had similar problems, any help is appreciated, thanks

Assuming Vista or Win7, is he or she loggged in as Administrator on that computer? Does he/she have full administrative rights to the Medieval2 folder and all child folders? Is the security software like Norton stopping it?
If it works on yuors, the save is good and that leaves a security issue.

It's something on his computer not letting him load it.

Have him right-click the file, properties/preferences (forget which), and under the security tab, be sure under his login, "Full admin rights" is checked.

I's say it's a bad save except you say it works on yours.

    It's one of three things.

    1. Something is corrupting the saves sent in his direction, could be security issue.
    2. His security settings are not right.
    3. There is something he is not telling you.

I don't know how old you are or computer and internet savvy you are but it might be time time for twenty questions and see if the answers add up. Only you can ask and only you would know if they add up.

irishron, what about the Windows firewall that shipped with Vista and Win7? Could it be that the recipient has it enabled while the others don't and that's causing the problem?

It is a security layer that does need to be addressed.

hes tryed it on 2 pcs,one with win 7 and one xp and both have the same problem

he started a new campain saved it on turn one and sent it to me.i was able to load it no problems,i used the same file and done a quick few turns saved it with a new name,i sent that file back to him,he couldnt load that.

i then used the same file he sent me loaded it up on turn 1 saved it at that with no changes and renamed it,he couldnt load that either.

i then sent him the original file he sent me with no changes and he could load that

it seems his pc/game will reject any file thats not been made/saved on his pc,what could cause this....fook knows

I haven't seen something like this since some guys used to send floppies back and forth.

You are right, his pc is rejecting. I have no more ideas except ask Microsoft what they have would do it aong with Sega, and his computer maker.

    Good luck.

More people have this problem (get redirected at the menu when trying to load a hotseat save) is there still no solution?

I figured it out (for me at least): I got redirected to he menu everytime but it seems that it only occurs when your playing with a different version of the game or mod then the other players. For some reason my medieval was 1.3 while 1.5 was the version of the save game so I updated my medieval en reinstalled the mod and it was fine. On my other PC medieval is always automatically 1.5 so I didn't bother to check right from the beginning.

    Hope this helps other people

Get a new copy from the player that posted it.

If it does not work, (1)go back to one that does work, or (2) oops, time to start a new game.

Medieval2 has no way of editing its savegames.
