    Default Game resolution problem

Another new player for SS 6.3. I enjoyed the heck out of 6.0 and have been looking forward to some serious eye candy in 6.3.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to get my new monitor and M2TW to cooperate fully with each other. The monitor works just fine with ETW. I am using Steam for both games. Installation of SS6.3 (with latest patches and fixes went smoothly - which impressed me in and of itself), and so did launching inside Steam after I made the required adjustments.

    Monitor resolution: 1920x1080
Game resolution: 1024x768. The game will happily size either a window or do fullscreen that takes up the requested amount of space on my monitor, but never actually shows more than 1024x768. Any request for greater resolution just gets me stretching, which kinda kills the pretty...

I tried changing the resolution inside the game:
options->video->battlescreen and campaign resolutions set to a variety of possible resolutions, starting with 1920x1080, plus tests with the "widescreen" button checked and unchecked.

    Then in the preference files:
    medieval ii total war\medieval2.preference.cfg, battle_resolution = 1920 1080, campaign_resolution = 1920 1080, widescreen = 1, and then several other resolutions, including 1280x1024 and 1680x1050.
medieval ii total war\mods\SS6.3\default.cfg, adjustments to resolution, tests with all 4 possible options of windowed=true, windowed=false, and borderless_window=true, borderless_window=false, and finally the commenting out of all video options.

Nothing I did got be resolution better than 1024x768. I'm out of ideas and need your advice.

I have found that in MTW or MTK, if you have the game going slow on a powerful enough PC, like I use with 1920x1080 you can use the following trick :
As you you`re in the campaign map, press Alt+Tab to go back to windows desktop.

Then press it again to go back to the game.
Repeat it until you see the loading bar is fast and the game is fast & smooth (it usually takes 2-3 time)
Simply use the arrow keys to move through the map, you`ll know it`s ok when it goes smoothly.

Don`t do it after it`s already fast, otherwise it will become slow again.

I haven`t found a cure to the same problem with ETW however, usually the game is slow, and not smooth, but sometimes it works just fine.

Actually it probably has nothing to do with the game. Most modern graphic cards/drivers/software sees mtw and auto classifies it to low graphics and limited resolutions. Check your card software to make sure its not forcing it to be smaller.
