Hi everyone. I'm a huge fan of nu-metal and thought it deserved its own thread. This could also serve as a place to share music or to talk about music. I'll begin by posting some videos of some of the best nu-metal bands out there.

    Mudvayne - Dig
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Otep - Confrontation
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Korn - It's on
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Slipknot - Wait and Bleed
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Nothingface - Blue Skin
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Dry Kill Logic - Rot
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    System of a Down - P.L.U.C.K

    Spineshank - Asthmatic ( video)

Also remember that Nu-metal is a very wide genre and some bands can be counted into a lot of different categories so don't be suprised if a band sound completely different from the rest.

You do realise you're probably going to get swamped by 'Nu-metal sucks' posts right?

As to my personal opinion. I loved it when i was growing up as it helped relieve the angst that i felt, but looking back on it now and occasionally i bring out Hybrid theory or Slipknot to listen to. However I tend to just get a feeling of embarrassment at the musical simplicity of it sometimes. It's hard to take the likes Jonathan Davies seriously as he's whines about his daddy issues when he's a 30+ year old man.

I don't care if people like it or not. Just thought it deserved a thread

As for being simplistic I have to disagree with you. Bands like Otep and Mudvayne does pretty complex music and since I'm a bass player I do lavish in the less guitar-focused music

Ack, i should of explained it better. 'Simplistic in comparison too' rather than just simplistic. It's hard to go back to Nu-metal when you've listened to GSYBE!, or Refused. But then again the immediacy of Nu-metal as music is one of the reasons it was so popular, it's not necessarily a bad thing.

I see what you mean. That's the great thing about metal though. There's something for everybody Some don't seem to understand that.

    This.

Personally I used to like it. I prefer old Power Metal and Thrash nowadays though. Numetal gets repetitive after a while.

This thread is not dedicated to slipknot. And if anything I'm an otep/mudvayne fan. I don't see how you're fit to judge a genre anyways.

I know it's not dedicated to slipknot but few people that posted where mentioning it.Well i also don't see how are you fit to jude a genre.Besides every serious metal musician(of course not famous) that i met(i met a lot of them) think that nu metal ridicilously easy.

Oh and the only person in my neigbourhood that openly loves nu metal is a fat uggly kid with no and i mean no friends, and of course he he's always been bullied throught he's life.

I never did judge a genre. I could have said black metal is but I didnt. If you're a guitarist I can see what you're coming from but I would love to see a bass player say Ryan Martinie or Evil suck. Nu-metal also have better singers generally than most metal (in my opionion that is). There's some great drummers in nu-metal as well.

Edit: There's fat ugly kids everywhere listening to Dimmu Borgir but that doesn't make the music any worse does it?

Well personally i think some Nu metal bands are excelent live acts like Slipknot(Until he Disaster Pieces Tour),Deftones,LB(Pre Choloate Starfish Era) And Korn Of course how where absolutely amazing until Brian Welch Left .
Well Korn's Fieldy is excelent i must say altough i the playing of the bass itselfg isn't so hard as to jump around and play it,same goes for Munky and Head .
Vocals you could say they are better then the Most Thrash metal vocals moslty because are they so unique.
Well drumming itself isn't hard except of the blast beat But David Silvera and Shavo Odadjan Are somehow energgegtic when they play.
But all in all nu metal is simply to simple and not rarely childish when it comes to lyrics. Not to menton the sell outs...
The fat ugly(Oh and there are fat ugly kids that are bulied(Slipknot) and there are and there are fat ugly kids that bullgy others(DB) DB kids are a minority.
And it begins. Honestly i think these metal purists are the worst type of music fans in existence (excluding kids who like CrunkCore), there's a reason why metal is one of the most stagnant genre's in music at the moment. As soon as anyone tries anything different they're lynched by a mob of metal traditionalists.
    Bands like Mayhem,Darkthrone,Emperor,Dimmu Borgir,At The Gates,Kovenant,Fear Factory,Paradise Lost,MY Dying Brgide tried something new but they weren't " lynched "

Anyway... for me nu-metal was a good jumping off point for other metal, heavier (moar br00tal!) bands, although I am still a fan of Slipknot.

I liked Linkin Park's first two albums, Hybrid Theory and Meteroa (I don't count Reanimation as a real album, it was just Hybrid Theory only made worse by some DJ), but since then they've become utter fails.

Disturbed is sometimes classified as Nu-Metal.

yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one?
