Installing Multiple Copies Of RTW

PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE A CLEAN COPY START HERE

1. Uninstall RTW
2. Delete all files in your RTW folder (alternatively, install RTW to a different folder)
3. Install RTW

PEOPLE WHO HAVE A CLEAN COPY START HERE

4. Copy all of your files in the RTW directory.
5. Navigate to the root folder (usually C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War, OR C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War)
6. Create a new folder, with a different name (IE: Roma Surrectum)
7. Paste the files into this folder.
8. Done

This is very simple and easy to do and will save you pointless hours of re-installing the game every time you want to play a different modification.

Do note that you may not want to re-install if you have a scratched disk as the install may not work correctly, in which case you should contact sega, or thoroughly clean your disk. If neither of these work, put some toothpaste or polish on it and leave it for a while and it may work.

Only problem: the mods are making own folders, and dont change anything to vanilla...

Mods such as Roma Surrectum don't have their own folders.

you could always browse them to a different folder.

That's what this is... the whole point of this is being able to play both the original version and mods that overwrite the original folders. You direct the mod to the secondary directory, and viola, you have two completely different copies.

why not just install RTW Vanilla and make a copy of the main folder...
do you have to start a "How To" thread about this ?
even my dog knows how to install mods and keep playing RTW Vanilla

still nice though for the people who don't know it.
or just are too lazy for using there brain.

Well - here's another technique to do it:

Go to the Creative Assembly folder - hold CTRL and then just left-click and drag the Rome Total War folder and whooop - you got your copy
of rome total war - no need to create a folder or to copy/paste or to rename anything.

There really is no point having a thread just for this.

You're right Busilov, but there is also only the long way shown which tells me that lots of people don't use their
mistakes to their advantage (ever accidently created a copy of a few files when trying to select a couple of them
with CTRL-key?)
