P=Phalanx
A=Archers
C=any kind of calvary
R=Reserve(phalanx or heavy infantry)
call it "The Meatgrinder"

Used this tactic several times in my Macedonian campaign. Commanding a small army of 800 men (mainly phalanx) I defeated armies of over 2500 Gauls. But it's a bit like cheating, just like the hedgehog formation.

Errrr… why is that like cheating?
As long as you are not altering the game to make it easier, surely anything goes?
If a particluar formation works well and gives you an advantage, even against superior numbers, why not make use of it?
Isn't one of the points of the game to learn how to overcome your enemies and defeat them in combat?
Will I be able to make a statement in this post instead of always asking questions?
