    Siborne Maps of Waterloo Campaign

Markus Stein has just published all maps of the very rare Siborne atlas on the 1815 Campaign as part of Napoleon Online in a reasonable resolution.
Just follow the link given below and click on the thumbnails to enlarge the maps. These maps are really detailed and especially the ground is printed nearly "3-D".

Dr Chris Flaherty has now posted his work at
    http://www.ottoman-uniforms.com/

His introduction to the site is reproduced below:
"AN ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF THE UNIFORMS & INSIGNIA: 1800 till 1918
Welcome to Ottoman Uniforms, a website intended to give an insight into the uniforms of the Ottoman Turkish Imperial Army and Navy, from its early beginning as a Modern Army, in 1800 till the end of the Great War, in 1918 for the English speaking wargamer, modeller or military historian.

This is a non-political historial exploration of the various uniforms that developed over a 120 period. Until recently there has been very little available in the English language on the uniforms, flags and insignia worn by Ottoman Turkish forces covering the full period 1800 – 1918.

This study identifies over 460 different uniforms worn by the Ottoman Turkish army, and navy from 1800 till 1918, with examples taken from surviving uniforms, period illustrations, written descriptions, and photographs.

Many of the terms, phrases and spellings of ranks are also used, to preserve what may have been original pronunciations. For instance, between 1880 and 1916 commonly the Ottoman rank of major, is written in German, and British references as ‘Bimbashi'. Whereas in modern Turkish it is correctly spelled as Binbashi (from the Turkish – a chief of a thousand). In this particular case, it is known that ‘Bimbashi' is actually soldier Arabic, a pidgin of Arabic which developed among the Anglo-Egyptian military (used typically between 1870 and 1920).

As well, two smaller studies have been done on the Tunisian Army (1820 till 1881), and Egypt Army (1820 till 1914).

Uniforms: My thanks to Steve H Smith & Hans-Karl Weiss (Napoleon Series Forum) Uniformbilder um 1810 (Universitätsbibliothek (Kassel)): http://orka.bibliothek.uni-kassel.de...03/9/LOG_0004/ The Westphalian gunner Samuel Hahlo conceived the manuscript probably in Kassel in the years 1807 and 1808. It is noteworthy in this context that Hahlo was one of the first German soldiers of Jewish faith – this was a consequence of the introduction of the constitution of Westphalia in 1807, in which the equality of all citizens before the law was declared.
Hahlos drawings show members of the French Grand Army (including Bavarians, Hesse-Darmstädters, Nassauers, Bergers, Italians and Polish soldiers, the latter of the Imperial Guard and the Vistula Legion) and the Spanish division La Romana between the war in Germany from 1806 to 1807 and the outbreak of the war in Spain in 1808. Moreover, the Westphalian army in its initial phase is represented in the manuscript.

    Russian Uniforms

My thanks to Steve H Smith at Napoleon Series Forum:

    http://dlib.rsl.ru/viewer/01003339381#?page=1

Representation of the Uniforms of the Russian Imperial [Army] in 88 illuminated sheets. (1793) by Iakov von Liude. Jacob von Lude, Captain of Keksgolmsky Musketeer Regiment, in St. Petersburg (in 1797). [Geissler, Johann Gottfried, 1726-1800]

The album was compiled by Jakob von Lude, lieutenant of the Ranger Corps in Finland. There are 88 engraved images of military service people from general field-marshal to kossak, all wearing the Russian army and navy uniforms adopted late during the reign of Catherine the Second.

The images are engraved by C. G. G. Geisler (1770—1844), a German artist who lived and worked in Russia in 1790—1798, and hand-painted in watercolours.

    Austrian Uniforms

Markus Stein has published a new series on the Napoleon Online platform. It is the very valuable series of 1793 published by the Artaria studio in Vienna. It covers the whole Austrian army on 132 plates. Just follow the link below - although the description is in German you can switch to English menu structure by changing the "flag". http://www.uniformen.napoleon-online...p?/category/60

    Prussian Uniforms

Thanks to Markus Stein at Napoleon Online (announced on NSF)

"Today I finished the first part of the unique and due to the shown details very valuable uniform series of F.G. Thieme, produced for the Prussian king in 1792. The plates show officers, nco's, musicians and soldiers with their uniforms in 1792 ... so this series is the most reliable source about the Prussian uniforms during the wars of 1792 to 1795.
All plates except the infantry are published in our new uniform portal of Napoleon Online - these infantry plates will follow during the next 2 weeks.

Just follow the link given below and click on the plates - you may move from one to another. The menu may be changed to English or French by changing the flag - but unfortunately the texts accompanying the images are still in German :\

But although these texts are in German I think, the images speak for themselves and be helpful for your researches.

    Kind regards from sunny Berlin
