Default Mod request (for vanilla game): Gondor cavalry with shields

As the title goes: I always wondered why gondorian cavalry couldn't get a shield or two to gain additional protection.

Well, it would completly make sense if they had some great armour. The thing is that they don't have it, and every other cavalry- except for Rhunnic BGs is equipped with shields.

I know it's simple to add a new shield to the model (no bones need to be assigned), but my milkshape trial apparently again expired. Is anyone interested in making such a minor improvement?

    neccesary graphical reference ( ):

The main idea is that in Minath-Tirith should be a unit--Nights of Minath-Tirith,in plate arrmor, gondor infantry shild +long sword.

I don't quite understand. Gondor Cavalry is Gondor's highest tier cavalry (except for AOR Dol Amroth). Why couldn't they have an edge over Gondor cavalry milita?
Do you try to say that Gondor cavalry+shields should be a separate unit called Knights of Minas Tirith?

Sorry, but even as a foreigner, I just had to be a 'spelling nazi'.

I've never heard anything of these Knights of Minas Tirith, except for the ones created by Games Workshop.

(...) Higher ranking troops include the Fountain Guard and Ithilien archers. However, Gondor’s pride truly lies in their cavalry – few in numbers but powerful knights of Minas Tirith and Dol Amroth, capable of breaking any enemy formation.
Yeah, but making entirely new unit is not as simple as giving Gondor Cavalry shields. Plus, it would be rather pointless if the sole difference between Knights of the Minas Tirith and Gondor Cavalry would be shields, don't you think?

Let's stick to giving Gondor cavalry shields.

So you are planning on a Gondor campaign, don't forget to add good stamina to your gondor spearmen and swordsmen because it doesn't make any sense not to have that trait for a proffesional unit.

Gondor units use one of the heviest arrmor,so stamina is very dificult to train when you wear 50 kg of steel.

They are professional troops, they go through drills all the time, they have a big resistance and it's not fair when other factions have it.

Full plate armor weights only about ~20 kgs, and since Gondorian plate armour is not full (it lacks full limbs protection), it's safe to assume that it weights less.

You did? Replace! Gondor Cavalry without shields (as the only unit in the whole game save for Kataphracts) makes no friggin sense!

Do it and get numerous reps

At no point could any shield weight as much as 15kg. Pavise- a thick, large shield covering entire body weights as much as 9 kg. How did you calculate the weight of armour- I don't know. No sword weights 5 kilos. Even heaviest longswords weight about 2 kg.

Something like that was at National Geografic-ultimate wepon, about gothic arrmors, there was plate arrmor without mail 20 kg but gondorian soldiers use mail under arrmor.

All soldier must use Padded armor, then Chain armor and then Plate armor. Wearing a chain or plate without padded armor is useless beacuse it's the padded armor the most protective of the three strates, and the cheapest.

A padded alone weight 4 kg, but is so hot to wear, even in winter you die from the heat.

I did Medieval Fancing for some years.
Shield weight about 3 kg, and i have a 5 feet heavybladed sword who weight 3,5 kg; there are some swords who weight 4,5 kg, but these are 6 feet tall. A one-hand sword weight less than 2 kg.
The armor is about 20 kg if well made, with all the subarmor (padded, chain and on top plate). Otherwise it can go on until 30 kg.
