Poll: How important is modding in (all) TW games for you?

We have several hundreds of threads with a discussion about it in the TWC, here at Shogun 2 and else where too.
We discussed like mad about the importance of modding and all the further points around it and we have unnumerable opinions to read there.
To be honest too, we have minimum one big petition made in this matter and if we look only on the number of answers in comparsion to the total number of active TW members (shown on the bottom of the "The Total War Center Forums"), lesser than 20% made an answer (about 18% only) in this thread.
And if I go deeper to sort out people which made more than one post in this petition and also if I sort out those who wrote they didn't support the petition of whatever reasons, it will be about 15% of all active TWC members who supported this petition and TWC is the biggest Modding forum home for TW games!
This number is only a worthless minority in comparsion to the total sales numbers of each TW games guys!

So I think it will be more than time to make an important poll here in TWC about "how important is modding really for the members" to get a more clear and true picture now!

Please note that the question is made in general for all existing TW games and all further coming TW games! Also note that the current situation of modding since ETW does not matter here, because the background is only your personal opinion of using mods in every TW games!

Please note too that any vote and any made answer here has only to be accepted, no matter if you agree with it or not! Please be always gently to each other and I won't read any insulting or blaming of each other! Everyone has the right to vote and to name his personal opinion and everyone has the right to play the TW games how he like to play!

I think the given possible answers to vote will fit for all different opinions in general.

I play also Vanilla (unchanged original version), but I prefer to play with Mods

I prefer mods, since Total war games tend to have historical inaccuracies and not quite enough realism.

Given that most 'vanilla' versions of TW games are poorly researched and/or 'dumbed down' for the casual or MP gaming market, there is no choice in my opinion but to rely on the modding community to provide the gaming experience that I am interested in.

A TW game which cannot be readily modded to provide these improvements and replay value is basically not worth buying. I very rarely play the vanilla version of a TW game, if nothing else I always edit out the fantasy and novelty units.

Intersting poll and lots of options too! I only really use mods that get rid of annoying aspects I don't like. Like the camera shake and the dust from the units in NTW. Or the forts in ETW. I'm not too fond of AI improvements done by modders especially where ETW or NTW is concerned because it usually involves taking away some form of feature that I'm fond off. Like fire by rank or the use of grenades. I'm sure it's "historically accurate" but I do like lobbing those grenades!

Nevertheless I chose "I play mostly Vanilla with only little Mods as new unit packs, AI improvements and so on"

I would like to point out however that the poll is akin to asking who prefers apples or oranges on a website about oranges. That is to say we all kind of know how the poll will eventually turn out. I predict top marks for the first 3 options.

Good poll Mandelus, I think it will help settle some of the debate that goes on here.

It's also a very good idea to take the CA survey over at the official forums. There are a couple of questions in that survey that allow you to indicate the importance of mods in your TW experience -- that is, if they are important to you.

I would like to point out however that the poll is akin to asking who prefers apples or oranges on a website about oranges. That is to say we all kind of know how the poll will eventually turn out. I predict top marks for the first 3 options.

In my home-forum (the TWZ) I started yesterday evening the same poll and until now have 50 guys voted. As here, most voted option 1 and 2, but there also voted e.g. 3 guys the option 6 (afraid / problems with Mods and therefore mostly Vanilla).
I find this intresting, because this possibility is notmuch discussed in the past. To be honest, about 4-6 years ago I would be also one of those guys who vote this option, because I had massive porblems with it. For example I had 3 time tried to install SPQR for RTW and only the last try was successfull. Sure, maybe my own stupidness is undoubtful a reason too, but also I have to say that several readme.txt of some Mods are only .... sorry to say this .... trash for pure beginners to understand with no real general knowledge about it.

Finally I'm also waiting about those people who wrote in the past that rarely to no mods because more mP players and so on. This was also often named in the discussions too!

Yes, but it is hard to find a good place for such things in the big TWC where many people take minimum notice of it ....

P.S.
I voted option 2, because I play also pure Vanilla and had also fun with it to be honest. But I prefer to play with Mods finally, even with my own modifications and re-modifications of an other mod in the files sometimes ....

Modding is extremely important, I wouldn't play Rome Total War anymore if mods like Roma Surrectum weren't made.
