Default I need a little Roman advice

After going on vacation for 9 weeks, I have come back to Roma Surrectum II a bit of a newb, even though playing RTW is a little like riding a bike, as you can never forget, but you can still get a little rusty. I now find myself in a pickle of a situation, and would like some advice

    Its 582 A.U.C.
    Summer

Its been 17 years since the massive invasion into Hispana [6 full legions(which put a big hamper on the economy)] and 7 years since all of Spain has been controlled. I have been trying to improve relations and income from all of Hispana. (and southern Gaul) Since I cant afford to support my 5 Legions in southern Gaul protecting myself from Arvieni and Beleage. (who is actually a major power now having a lot of territory) I can't support anything, because when i raise takes to Medium! most of the territories goes red. Could you suggest something? If you need screen shots are, ill upload then tonight EST.

So in summery, could someone help me get an idea to get happiness and income in Hispana and Gaul undercontrol?
also I'm making 18,000 a turn, and are trying to invest it in Hispana but its not working! Could someone also explain how the economy works in RS II? a quick summery?

    Thanks,

Wow, 18000 a turn hmmmm would seem like you have neglected your economy from the beginning.

Out of interest how much money a you making in each settlement in rome?

I think you have expanded far too quickly, and well hispana isnt exactly a gold mine either, so therefore its costing more to keep it! your only real option is to pull back and disband some legions till your getting at least 50 - 60 k a turn, then put all that money into economy buildings in italy. so things like farms mines and trading buildings. If you wont pull back then disband your legions so you have just enough forces to look after spain and then spend your money on temples giving happiness until your settlements there are stable and then start spending once again on economic buildings.

RSII forces the player to play two games, expansion/fighting. political/economical. You need to master both to have a chance im afraid. In future for the first 10 or 15 years just build what troops you need to protect your lands and drive carthage and the roman rebels from your lands and then spend all your other money or economic development, till your getting a good 150k-200k a turn. Once you have that start advancing, but slowly, take a couple of settlements then develop them to a good military standard and economic standard, so your still earning around 150k.

Im at war with the averni, dacia boii, greece pontics and egyptians, i have 18 named legions and abuot 10 auxilary stacks and then all the troops in each of my places probably add up to another 10 stacks. yet im still making 200k a turn and building in every settlement, this is because you must take care of your economy. And if you really need to expand fast because you like that type of gameplay, go for macedonia and greece or carthage, as those settlements are quite rich. But really you should pay your economy some attention early in the game, i usually set that im not alowed to expand for at least 20 turns. Except taking genoa, and destroying the rebels.

    Hope this helps

I did look after my economy, as at one point, I had been making 200K a turn with 4 standing legions early on, but mass recruitment and major battles has hampered my economy. I after analizing the situtation, i realized what was making me only 18K a turn! Project Hispana, was a project i spent 150k to revitalized Hispana economically. I also recruited a bunch of legions to patrol southern Gaul. I panicked after getting 18k and knowing how hard it is to run an empire that big, i came to the forums to have advice given. Later Irealise it was only temporary, as im making 143k a turn now. But do you have a stradegy to deal with the arvieni and belage? Hold my borders or attack?

Im making 6000 in roma 8000 in arretium and 5000 in arriminum, and around 1200 in other small cities, and average 1000 in spain alltogether.

The game might be removing money from your coffers. Press ~ when your turn starts to see if the command add_money Brutii -40000 is there. Press the up arrow key to see how many times the command was put in. I get about 20k a turn but have that script taking out almost 120k. Not sure but I think that if you recruit more(therefore having a higher upkeep) then the script won't run and you will get more money.

I had an income of nearly 900k but because of scripts it was only 200k... this is to slow you down (and the AI if they get to much money)
