    Default Always loosing money

    Hey all.
I downloaded this mod recently and I must say, great work team! Nice graphics and good job with the new factions, units and map.

But when I start a campaign it doesnt take but 2turns untill I am loosing florins and get broke.

Any idea where my problem is?

And what faction are you playing with?

Also, those are not florins. I'd say those money are rather dirhams.

I tried playing with ERE (I'd love to play with those guys ), but after 2 turns I was -200 and it kept going down. I tried Kingdom of Armenia and Jerusalem and the Ayyub faction as well. Don't know what I'm doing wrong here as I do like I did in Vanilla campaigns (build roads etc first for better trade and income).

I've just played three quick turns with ERE.

Result: I had 9813 gp when I quit the game, with average income at 1500 gp per turn.

What I did was: reject all adoption requests, turn off "auto-manage" option in settlements without governor (otherwise AI would just build something, lowering my treasury) and... that's all.

Conclusion - you spend too much money than you can afford. Try to obtain trade rights from whoever you can.

Aah that must be where my problem lies. I didn't know that adoptions would cost me to much money. I never have auto-manage on so .
Thanks for the heads up, didn't know this until now.

Edit: Well, you were right . Not adopting those generals all the time really saves me money. I get around 5000gp per turn now. Thank you again .

Build paved roads, roads, and ports (especially wharfs) - these give large income boosts. You want to build a decent income base before striking.

Try to send a few units to enemy teritory (rebels). Don't atack settlement, just leave them there. Maybe they can loot some money for you from this lands.

That is my main priority every time I start a campaign . I want to establish a good and wealthy economy before focusing on armies etc.

build economical buildings carefully: 4 example if U build paved roads in constantinople it does not add as much money as the wharfs or ports but in city s like damascus roads are main items to build.it is all about geographical location of the settlement

Yeah adoptions can make you go broke quick, paying for all those bodyguards. As ERE i always begin by builing up Constantinople and Niceae first and quickly take the rebel settlements before the turks do. Then usually have a pretty healthy income.

The main issue in almost all factions that is sort of different in BC is that you start with a stack of very advanced/expensive units. Theres only two things you can do with them that make any sense. Rush as aggressively as you can, or disband almost all of them and have economy to build. I personally recommend you use them to rush, its not unusual for me to be at -10,000 around turn 8-9 but have double the number of initial settlements. Then I disband as much as I think I can get away with as I build up my much larger country. Also remember BC does not have the free units in cities so check your economy scroll. I would bet your army upkeep is very large.

Started a Rajput campaign. Rushed and conquered four territories but was 40,000 in debt. I made one adoption and had only skeleton garrisons in each settlement. I then disbanded what was left of my army. But I'm still losing several hundred a turn. This is the only faction I'm having money problems with.

That's because Rajput generals are extremely expensive. I think your faction leader costs about 3k by himself, or around there.

Usually in turn one I recruit as many soldiers and mercenaries as I can afford, spending every penny I have. Then, for the next 30 turns, I grind miserably in debt while I conquer large swaths of land around me. When my army gets wittled down to a more economic size, I tend to have conquered enough land to get back into the green pretty quickly, bur I can't build anything, or replenish troops for the first 40 turns.

I used most of my starting troops and took Antioch asap. It can make lots of cash for you once you build it up.

You'll find that you'll be loosing money immediately with any faction. With some you'll loose more than with others. KOJ happens to be one of the factions which drain cash quickly due to their starting units which require much upkeep, mainly their knights.

As it has been mentioned before in other threads, you have two options right at the beginning. You can either use the units you start with by going on the offensive, or you can disband as many units as you need until you stop loosing money, however, in this case, you are left exposed. Plus, with some factions, you are in a certain situation where it's best to keep your units, while risking to loose money (short term), but going to war through which you'll regain any lost cash.

KOJ are in just situation. The Ayyubids are their historically main foe. If you disband many of your units, then you will render yourself really weak for an Ayyubid strike.

However, at the end of it, it's all up to you. It's your game and you have to make the decisions for your kingdom/empire.

ERE is one of the easiest factions as they don't start with a deficit (well maybe 600 but that is nothing).
Expand quickly and hoover up the rebel settlements nearby... and between trebizond and nicae
Attack with only your generals guard (so they sally sparing you many turns of waiting) and burst rout their infantry with many charges, if they have cavalry things get alot more complicated so bring some of your javelin horsemen and pull their cavalry far from their infantry... then surround and pound the out of it
