    it really depends, IMHO mongols would be much better off just going with a pure horse army (mostly horse archer with a few lancers to support). those rocket carts aren't very reliable, they either kill everything or kill nothing. but obviously for fun factor they're great.

    IMHO, if you have a infantry based (siege oriented ) army then just bring 2-3, in case they get hit in the field you have something to counter.

    In field battles i never use anything except Ballista, Catapult in early and Cannons(Serpentine) in late period.
    In siege they are devastating but in field i don't bother with all the headache it's just BAM.
