Does anyone know whether you can make it so that the wall upgrades don't give you huge stone walls and citadels - mainly because the AI can't handle them. I still want the effect of city and castle upgrades on the campaign map though.![]()

If you remove it from campaign then u can't build them and hence their effects will be removed as well.
Instead download Lusted's Battle and Campaign AI which are very hard so that might give you the challenge u are seeking.![]()
Yes, it's quite simple actually. What you need to do is go to export_descr_buildings.txt, and find the core_building chain. Then take a look at keywords such as wall_level and tower_level. I believe that if you keep the wall_level sufficiently low the battle-map settlement will load up as a simpler kind of castle.
