The Walking Dead

I love me a zombie movie, and I'm not sure if there was ever a television series of one, but here's the trailer for the upcoming AMC series, The Walking Dead.

I still haven't read the comics, although the Hardcover #1 is currently on hold for me at the book store. Looks good, with the Mad Max opening and all, and most of the cable series today have been successful. So, I'm hopeful, but guess we'll just have to wait till Halloween to see.

I've been eagerly awaiting this since a TV series version was only a rumor back a year or so ago...

I'm a big fan of the comic series and I hope that the TV show does the comics justice by making it revolve around the real walking dead: the survivors. While I'd still be entertained by the show just being a gore-filled zombie killing experience the best thing they could do would be to center on the characters.

Since this is an AMC show I'm a little worried about how they're gonna treat some of the more...disturbing bits of the comics. I'm not talking about zombie-related gore but rather certain events that took place in some of middle and late volumes...

Things like the murder of Hershel's little girls at the prison, the killing of Thomas, the rape/torture of Michonne and her brutal revenge against the Governor, Tyreese's execution, and the bloodbath that was the assault on the prison

It's AMC, dude. Disturbing and drama is their forte. Their other original series are pretty unnerving at time, especially Breaking Bad. I have no worries; AMC is the next best thing to HBO.

Yeah, cable networks are the only way to adapt material IMO. I mean, just look at the butcher job they did to The Sword of Truth series. You can get away with far more graphic content and themes than you can for even late night network.

I read the first book of the Sword of truth series. I didn't understand they were the same series before a few espisodes in. Stopped watching it soon after that.
