EB Seems To Enjoy Suicide

I installed EB over 1.5 last night, and it all went in OK. The threads here only seem to have fixes for when you can't start a campaign, but my game only reaches the first screen (the one with all the disclaimers, etc) before utterly freezing. I'll be waiting for five or ten minutes with no activity. Alt-tabbing, alt F4ing and opening the Task Manager is no help. My only solution is to force a reboot. Is anyone else having this problem, and is there a way to fix it?

On my old 512MB pc it could take 30 minutes or longer to start EB up.
As long as it doesn't crash, it is working (even when the task manager says it is not).

Ah, that might be it then. My PC is only a 512MB anyway, so I'll sit it out. Just out of interest, did it run fine once it had loaded? I plan on upgrading soon, but I'd like to play it some before I spend the money.

I had to make a page file for EB, because it simply crashed. Once I did that it worked stable, but slow. I enjoyed it for almost two years on that pc.
2GB is needed to get it to work fluently though.

That's fine for now. I only really wanted to run it for YATS, I'm happy with Vanilla for everything else.
