    Default 6.3 Jihad

    Guys,

    I am playing as K-Shah Early Era with Savage AI, difficulty H/VH.

    My Imam declares a Jihad on Constantinolpe, I want to start a war between Seljuks and the Roman Empire, as it suits me tactically.

    Firstly Seljuks, then Fatties and finally the Moors join the Jihad. Lastly I join and a General is dispatched with his Jidahi's.

    Next the Seljuks, declare a ceasefire with the Romans, then the Fatties, however each as a stack at Constantinople with a clear Jihad banner.

    This strikes me as odd behaviour, your either on the Jihad or not, like Jihad= hostilities.

    Never seen this before with 6.1 or 6.2

    I seen this as well, after all 4 Muslim faction went Jihad on me (Crusader States Jerusalem) Moors and Turks sued for peace, I was like WTF!
    1180, an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity in East Asia, it's technology and wealth is the envy of the world. But soon conflict will engulf the entire region with great consequences and lasting effects for centuries to come, not just for this region, but the entire known world, when one man, one people, unites.....

    Well, have you gone to the next turn after they cease hostilities? I know this sounds silly, but I'm playing as the Roman Empire, had a Jihad called against Constantinople.

    Several stacks of Fatimids, Moors, Kwarzemians, and one small Seljuk army arrive. The Kwarzemian Empire immediately start asking for a ceasefire, I accept. But the Jihad armies of the Kwarzemians continue ... Jihading. The next turn, we are back at war instantly (they didn't siege even need to siege or attack).

    Maybe that's what's happening?

    From a crusader pov, you cant have a ceasefire while on crusade. So you would have to leave the crusade or achieve its target then negotiate. Something is wrong with the Jihads for sure.

    I had on my england campaign a siege going on at gaza while on crusade and the french crusade army was standing next to me while at war with me and they declared sieze fire with fatimids but were still on crusade then when i completed crusade they went back to war with fatimids how strange is that

    I've seen something similar I'm also using Savage AI - with jihad armies agreeing to peace when on jihad.

    I'm not familiar enough with the CAI files to know what controls this -
    I suspect it's the crusaders desperate for peace with many enemies and the islamic factions also being keen on peace.
    but being on jihad means they then resume war.

    What would be helpful is some sort of block on diplomacy if one is on jihad or on crusade with the target faction.
    (I've no idea if one can do that.)

    I've seen the same wit a Jihad on Silve in Portugal. The AI also seemed to get very confused with the whole business, wih multiple ceasefires and stray muslim armies wondering about all over the place. Eventually the Jihad was cancelled.

    Guys,

    Interesting feedback, the Seljuks sieged Constantinople again and hence ceasefire broken, Fatties are on the beach having a Barbie!!!

    Tell me, if you are using Gracul or Lusted AI with 6.3, how is this campaign AI dealing with a Jihad?

    there are two sample chunks of code - I'm off to see if the SavageAI uses them or something different.
    I may be some time.

    Hopefully someone who knows more about the descr_campaign_ai_db.xml can work out if either of the chunks of code in the referenced thread
    are already in the SvagaeAI (and I didn't spot them) and if not where they would go if someone wanted to check them out.

    I play Crusader states, i have a jihad on me (jerusalem) Savage AI

    tried to cease fire seljuks and kwarez, but option is not available (so block is possible)
    even tried the fatties, who have no armies in Jihad, they did join the jihad but I killed them.
    but i can't cease fire them, don't know if that is normal

    Crusades did go normal aswell no cease fire and armies wandering.

    so it look normal so far, perhaps ai is missing some code?

    how does alliances fit in to this? if I am at war with someone and they become allies with my allies, an automatic cease fire is called... maybe the muslim factions went into alliance with an ally to the Byzantine?

    I've just checked and TheSavage hasn't been around for a long time so probably has left modding?

    really need someone who knows their way around the campaign_ai_db.xml file.
    It's immensely powerful and can be customised quite considerably.

    interesting comment:
    As you know, the first <decision_entry> that evaluates as true is considered by the ai as an appropriate response towards another faction (whether acted upon or not).

    the three CAI folders - in the data/campaign/sub folder - show considerable variations in size of file.
    Trying to compare the three to see which is best at avoiding this problem might be a tedious task - one I am happy to let someone else undertake.

    I am going to try to fix this now... I have never looked at the CAI folders, but Rozanov or anyone else... I am a huge SS fan and favor the SavageAI the most. Let's work together to fix this. Do you have any breakthroughs or ideas so far? (I have no internet so I post from a library)

    best of luck with this.
    the relevant file has always been a mystery to me - simply too large to comprehend.

    however if the problem is only with svagae CAi then possibly one of the other CAIs has the relevant code ?

    I don't think it has anything to do with the campaign_AI_db... You should not be able to make peace during Jihad... Period. Where is the file that codes Jihad? Or... is it hard coded... Gah...
