I've got a Radeon 5770 and I remember way back when the game released and people found a way to up the unit sizes they also started having trouble with a jerky animation problem in battles. The smoke and camera panning wouldn't lag, the FPS wouldn't suffer, yet the animations of the troops would be all jerky and seemed like they were stuttering. Now with it being a couple months old I was just wondering if people had finally found a fix around it, or if it's something we're stuck with.

    Thanks in advance.

Now I have the same problem with you.
With Catalyst 10.7&10.8 driver, the jerky animatins appear.
So I rolled back the driver to 10.6, it works fine.
But It's very odd thing for me to latest drivers cause performance drop! Despite ads of NTW on driver's installation screen!
Is there any ways to play the game comfortably with latest drivers?

Turn in a support tag at www.amd.com so they know the latest drivers are causing problems.

Not everyone has more than one sound device on thier systems - that is what has caused your problems.

I tried deactivating ATI audio devices, but no effect.
Actually,no performance drop using catalyst 10.6 or earlier with ATI audio device active,so I think it's not causing the problem in my case.
I will report this bug to AMD
    Thanks

What fixed the jumpy animation for me (after a lot of trial error) is lowering the particle detail setting from ultra - high - this fixed all animation stuttering for me and I cant really tell the graphical difference between ultra and high. Hope this helps

I think the only difference between ultra and high particle effects is that the smoke lingers a whole lot more.

Lowering the particle detail to high fixed it for me. Tried it over and over and got the same result.

Oh and AA was causing grainy screens until I lowered it from adaptive anti aliasing to simple multi-sampled...
