    Default Question about units [Campaign]

Im playing a Campaign as Sicily in the Late Era Campaign.. its turn 72 now and still i can only recruit the same old boring units that i had in the first few turns... Well except for a horse unit and sicily -norman knights are faster to recruit now.. Im just getting bored of the Pavise spearman that almost all my armies consist off 80%..

So when can i recruit new units? or is it just these?

You are playing with... 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, RR on, RR off, BGR I,II,III,IV... 4.1, 3.1... RR/RC compilation? Or should we answer for all possibilities?

If you are playing with RR disabled it is bugged. I ran in to the same problem when I first installed 6.3. I played until about turn 50 and found that I couldn't recruit newer units even though I had the required buildings in place. Then I found out here that playing with RR disabled causes this.

I had to restart the campaign with RR enabled. I'm glad I did, though. I love playing with RR now.

I have the same problem. What are the prerequisites for feudal and mailed knights? How to recruit them?I changed settings for the mode many times - no result.

sounds like RR is disabled to me haven't played as Sicily but noone else has mentioned this, try running setup.exe in start > program files > ss6.3 again and make sure you don't have disable RR ticked. IF you had to change this then you will need to start new campaign to test.

Greece offer you murtadoi. You have almost all units for that time frame. What is wrong than?
Ah, you want probably the late units. After 1300 mate.

So i think RR is on.

Is there a turn when i can recruit new units? or are these the only ones i can recruit..?
I have upgraded my main city to the biggest city avaible and the castle to a city (by using cheats just now to check)
And i dont get any new units.

Pavise the the strongest spear militia from game. So, dont say you not like them. In 1300, you will access pavise crossbows and handgunners. The strongest militia combo ever.
In a Fortress, with necesary buildings maded you can access normand knights, muslim archers and sargent spears. In north Africa will get latumna spears, gernadine jinittes, desert archers and so on.

Turn it on. And install the fixpack from the Compendium - because then you'd have a notice telling you that its bugged and that you shouldn use the option to disable RR.

Halebards are enough for me. And no need 1500 to get pikes. First, who get Iverness get first pikes in game. If you are french, you can bribe the local flemish in your army. Same like HRE in swiss. But best thing if you are not far away, get Iverness and make Aberdeen castle too. You will get first the highland pikes.

When playing in the grand campaign as a faction which had "pavise crossbow militia" in costume battles " don't seem to be able to recruit them anywhere. Why is that?

The first event that gives you new units happens between turns 100 -115.

Heh, I did a look. Yeah, the pavise crossbow militia come at 200, but the pavise spear militia come between 100-115. I would kind of wonder how come it takes ~1 century to figure that pavises for the crossbow militia would be a good idea ... but I suppose logically one would rather just make more crossbows (which kill people), rather than spend on shields (which keep the peasants alive)?

I am eagerly looking forward to using the Pavise spear militia, especially since they can be upgraded more in armor (I think).

there are 3 different eras in the campaign. early, high, and late middle ages. the late campaign starts in the high middle ages and you will eventually get an event after X number of turns that will change you to the late middle ages, updating your unit roster.
