    Default Wargs too slow

    Hi everyone.
I having so much fun with Orcs of Gundabar, but there is a thing that i think shall be change.
The Wargs are far more slow that i expected.
I tried race with some cavalry unit and they go the same speed (or even a little more slow).
And that is the exact oppose of the movie, where you can see that wargs are far more fast than the rohan horses (!). You can see well in the scene where wargs run away.
I read the books and i remember something about the speed of the warg. Something about they can run far more faster than horses in the sprint. I believe someone of you remeber better than me. For be lorewise, Wargs shall go faster but tired faster than horses (if it is possible).

It's not only a lore-thing. I think it is also something about the gameplay. Wags are not so strong for the cost, and OOG they are the only unit they have to pursue the escaping unit. And there is something that say me that this is the purpose of this kind of unit. Too weak for frontal attack, but light and fast so they can sorround army, attack the weakest point, and pursue the enemy.
Even in the book they are send to pursue the people of Rohan, i'm right?

Wargs are the modification of camels from vanilla
Camels were always slower than horses...

So there is no way to correct?

Wrong. It`s very easy to make them faster.

However, i`d only support making them faster if you could provide us with a quote from the book, showing us that wargs are faster than horses.

If i was a horse i'd get very indignated if i got out-runned by a mutated wolf.

Evidently all the other horse units in the game are mounted on Shadowfax clones.

However as noted above, there is no real suggestion in the books that Wargs are faster or slower than horses. The attack scene in the Two Towers movie was added in for pacing purposes.

    Oh, I see... XD

But, if there is no conferm nor denial in the books, is the films that count, isn't?

Yes, i'm sure, but i don't believe my word alone counts, meanwhile i search by the books. I'm not so sure to find it early.
Take it as a generic question. ^^

Ah they are based on camels, that's why they have a hump, I just thought it was a failed attempt to give them a screwed up mane of fur.

Does anyone know how to modify the texture files?

You can change the speed I the EDU, there is a line called speed something and you can make the number higher so the unit goes faster

To modify the texture files you need a converter that changes the texture files to dds files, I think you can find it in the M2TW modding workshop. You also need either Photoshop or gimp with a plugin that lets them open dds files, it probably says what they are in the modding workshop too

    Weird discussion

"There came wolves, and wolfriders, and there came Balrogs, and dragons, and Glaurung father of dragons"

"Ere long the vanguard swirled round the spur’s end and came rushing into Dale. These were the swiftest wolf riders, and already their cries and howls rent the air afar"

"But at this time our chief concern is with Saruman. He has claimed lordship over all this land, and there has been war between us for many months. He has taken Orcs into his service, and Wolf riders, and evil Men"

"Swiftly a scout rode back and reported that wolf riders were abroad in the valley, and that a host of Orcs and wild men were hurrying southward from the Fords of Isen and seemed to be making for Helm’s Deep"

"...yet I feared that wolf riders and plunderers might ride nonetheless to Meduseld, while it was undefended"

"Saruman's eastern force came down with unexpected speed; it was much smaller than the western force, but more dangerous. In its van were some Dunlending horsemen and a great pack of the dreadful Orcish wolfriders, feared by horses. Behind them came two battalions of the fierce Uruks, heavily armed but trained to move at great speed for many miles"

My point is there is no place in the JRR Tolkiens works where he says wargs were ridden by anyone
    and they were not slow:

"But before them, swift and silent, went several troops of the dreaded wolfriders"

and Tolkien knew the difference between Warg and wolf

"But even the wild Wargs (for so the evil wolves over the Edge of the Wild were named) cannot climb trees"

"The Goblins are upon you! Bolg, Son of Azog, of the North is coming. O Dáin! whose father you slew in Moria. Behold! the bats are above his army like a sea of locusts. They ride upon wolves and Wargs are in their train!"

quotes taken from Unfinished tales silmarillion hobbit and Lotr

From what i remember of the book he describes them as demonic wolves, he never gives a full description but they commonly work with orcs and i think he describes them as wolves like he describes urak-hai as orcs. He describes them as smaller than horses and the comon tactic when attacking horses is to go for the belly then finish of the rider. Don't quote me on that though, i need to check the book and then i'll be back.

"When I told the people of Northern Ireland that I was an atheist, a woman in the audience stood up and said, 'Yes, but is it the God of the Catholics or the God of the Protestants in whom you don't believe?"
