1550-1699 would you play it? please say why or why not, I would, not my absolute favorite era, but still incredibly interesting nonetheless, along with a combo of guns and melee. So, once a gain, would YOU play it?
Yes, of Course
No Way
Maybe
If it were mod friendly
Well, it won't let me vote.
But I think from our last discussion you probably got the idea that I would.
I would love to play as the Otomans during that time!
yes, it would be interesting too but with propers animations!!!
As said in "Gunpowder, or swords and spears?" thread, yes! I would like to play a Total War about this era.
And America, Africa and South Asia should definitely be in. At least the parts that were crucial to early colonisation, exploration and spice trade. Preferably more. But I rather wouldn't have those generic units of Empire
And, some important states weren't in existence in 1454, like The Netherlands! I also think Sweden isn't independent yet? Both are quite important nations during the 1600-1700 period!
I voted no way.
I simply cannot imagine that TW will have a reasable diplomacy system, ever. Without that, the complex diplomacy machinations of the era will not be available to the game, and will not be any more special then Rome with muskets.
If their was an English civil war campaign, I would certainly buy it.
AAR's
Surprise surprise!

And it's free! And a very, very good mod in my opinion! It's just a pity there are only two factions (+invading Scots I believe)
Download the For King and Country mod. It is in the MTW2 mod section and by AlphaDelta and covers this specific era during the English Civil War. Very good mod. Lacks some of the deeper campaign features like agents and such but as far as covering Pike and Shot battles it's amazing. Very historic as well.
All the major players in terms of Generals and very nice looking units. Several levels of cannons.
If you haven't played it yet you're missing out
EDIT - Oops, Rinan beat me to it!
The scribes on all the people shove
And bawl allegiance to the state,
But they who love the greater love
Lay down their life; they do not hate
thing is CA probably wants to choose an era that people know about or at least when you mention the era they get some sort of picture. With shogun you get samurai and ninjas with cities with cherry trees and that if you are a commander then projectiles will not harm you. With medieval you think chivalric knights and castles with spires. Rome and you get russel crowe as a gladiator and praetorian cohorts or at least roman soldiers with the 'broom head' on their helmet. Empire and Napoleon to most people are the same thing and you get george washington who was in the Independence war and Napoleonic wars aswell as the ACW and you get aristocratic soldiers who wield bolt action rifles
Chances are that after Shogun 2 it will be somewhere in China or it will be Rome 2
Seriouisly, there are already 50 topics talking about a Renaissence TW.
Pike-Shot Total War FTW YEEEEEES!

Yes, i'd buy.
I would like to see and English Civil War game.

Definitely, it fills nicely the gap between Med and Empire, and it's an interesting era![]()
