    Icon5 Invisible General?

This is my first time posting on this forum but I have been playing the Total War series since Shogun ^^
I used to play Medieval II alot on my laptop before it died and this computer can't handle much games-which is why I instantly became obsessed with this mod ^^ this is amazing! The one thing I hated about Medieval II was it's Battles were slow to react (the units) and I preffered the Rome style better, and this mod merges the two =D LOVE IT!

Ok as for the topic (sorry for going off), I was playing as Spain (still learning new names for most factions so bear with me!) and I managed to conquer all of Iberia and I started taking every city in Africa from the Almohad (as said above, learning the new names) but there was one general which was invisible.. it said it was the king, when moving units it usually showed a red area which indicated an enemy but no one was there and moving units to it meant they stopped due to the said enemy (the name comes up when the cursor goes onto him) but only when I was about to besiege their capital, the invisible general attacks me-and gets thrashed of course, but as soon as it said I had won the game crashed to a black screen, I had to stop it through the task manager. Does anyone know why this happened in the first place? Was really annoying, I could never attack him at all!

Also couple other things which have been mentioned/solved already (sorry if they have been) but the growth of the settlements is just crazy >_< they all end up rioting early and they go between loving me and hating me within a matter of turns-does this get fixed in the Hotfix or patch (isn't released from what I see)? As for the Faction selection menu in both campaign and custom battles, are the data of them going to be changed any time soon? They reffer to them as the old factions-Spain is clearly Carthage for the mention of them making elephants And another thing (sorry >_< don't want to be a pain on my first post!) the Pope section, it simply crashes the game as I found out and have been confirmed from reading posts on here but is there any plans to fix/remove it?

But despite the several bugs which do hinder the game now'n then, I absolutely love this mod! I have tried the Lord of the Rings mod for Alexander and it was fun (quite slow) but this one is much larger, better detail, and even runs faster somehow! Keep up the good work ^^ this is one mod that has to be kept alive!

Valuable piece of information that you have just gave us. We are looking for a "cloned character" (generated by an inconsistency between the descr_strat.txt and the family tree of one of the factions) which might be the cause of all the CTD's we are suffering. When this cloned character dies, the game crashes to desktop. I have being making some tests and in general the game crashes around turn 88 (20 year-old character + 44 years = possible death time). Perhaps that invisible general is the one we are looking for... I'd like to ask you for some info, if you don't mind:
    - Did this king died in battle?
    - What was the name of the character?
    - What turn was it?
    - Could you reload your campaign, or was it just crashing to desktop while loading?

    Well, thanks for your help

PS#1: Spain is taking the place of the Seleucid empire, not Carthage
PS#2: LOTR TW is a state of the art mod, I really enjoy killing orcs. But you're right, some times becomes a bit slow.

    EDIT:

There are none so enslaved as those who falsely believe they are free

Ok so you know I never saved the game (was going to after taking Africa) and after the game CTD I got annoyed and played another faction, Denmark (seriously? They can just spam tons of Viking Raiders!) which of course overwrited the previous auto saves of spain =( oh and I downloaded and installed that hot fix so I had to delete my english empire too.

To be honest, I am not sure-I auto calculated the battle but when it crashed the first thing I thought of that may have been a problem was the missing animation, say if he died or even retreated, that animation might not be there and the game CTD? But your theory does sound much more logical =D

I should have really taken all this into account shouldn't I? sorry but I actually don't remember, from what I do remember-I don't think their king died at all before hand so this is possibly their first king-aren't they set names to start with? Also wasn't it suppose to say "Faction Leader"?

Uh, hm, good question, took me quite some time to take Iberia and then English got involved with Pampola which took another campaign of teaching some lessons, so I have to say it was probably around the end date for a general's life.. I think my own king was around 66 at the time (or something around there)

As said, deleted and got the hot fix =D so far the hot fix is marvelous! Solved the Battle problem where the units are usually slow to react to orders, now they just do as you say when you say ^^

Oh, well this is awkward XD haha I only remember reading the part about the elephants and thinking of where it was on the faction selection list, appeared to be where Carthage was!
About the factions aswell, The Native American Tribes.. pretty bugged, they have one (or was it two?) units that have that "Unlocalised Information" (or something) text as their name reffering to the files not working for them or something? And their standard is still egyptian? =O and personally they should be given ships, atleast very weak ships which if possible can't enter the open sea. (just to connect their islands with their mainland) and if you put more work into them and give them unique units (Mayan/Aztec) you can maybe turn them into another faction?would be awesome! And their 'best' ship (still fairly weak) can only be built in their last port upgrade or something, gives them the chance atleast to sail to Europe but prevents them from becoming a sea power or anything.
