    Default Fan speed on bootcamp

Hey. Currently when I run any iteration (right word?) of RTW on my mbp (2010 model, i7 2.66Ghz, 4GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce GT 330M 512MB, Windows 7 through Bootcamp) my fan speed bumps up to approximately 6000 rpm. This is where it goes when I play most of games that push the CPU (RTR, SC2, Aion), and only hits 4k when i play say, WC3.

Now I have a friend with a similar laptop to mine and he only hits about 4k rpm. 6000 rpm seems to be (from what ive read online) the fans going flat out and im concerned about premature wear from such intense exercises.

It would be helpful if anyone else who uses Win7 on a mbp, or someone more knowledgeable than I tell me if this is normal.

The program I've used to monitor my computers is called CPUID Hardware Monitor

Do you accidentally have obstacles (like your legs) for the ventilation holes in your laptop? Does it get very hot? Does your friend have the cpu at energy saving while you have it on max prestation?

(just some reasons I can think of that increase fan speed)

no my mbp is on top of my desk.

i take it that 6000 rpm fan speed is not normal?

I've just fiddled with some of the cooling and power settings so we'll see if that does anything...

I doubt that the fan would rotate at a speed it wasn't designed for. On my rig all the TW games play quite happily at a steady temperature of 75 degrees , however, Napoleon TW, which I think is their first game to be optimised for multi-core support, really sets my fans going with a running temperature of 95 degrees.
