    Default Galatian and Briton banners

Greetings everyone, I wanted to know if someone's changed the vanilla banners that are used for the galatians and britons (I really don't like those from vanilla rome) for another kind of banners, let it be personal creation or whatever, or in the other hand, do you know of any little mod that changes them?

    thanks in advance

No, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to change them. That's just one of those things I've never really had the urge to mess with before.

I think it'd be nice to have some proper banners for them as we say goodbye to the Britons in 4.0, as they become part of the barbarian superfaction. I guess this is where it'd be handy to have someone arty on the team who would be able to do this.

As an aside, is there a way of changing the flags on city walls? I conquered Apollonia the other day and noticed the senate's flags there.

THAT'S what I'm talking about! maybe even for all factions! but I'm worse than zero when it comes to making banners, or even faction symbols... the other day i was trying to do a faction symbol for Meroe's kingdom for some personal purposes, and look what i did!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I thougt it would be easy to do, or at least not that difficult, maybe im losing some important step for the creation, I don't know
I seems roughy (don't know if this is a word) but hey, it isn't finished yet

I dont want to look nitpicky but both banners seems like not being in armony with the mod, visually, I mean they look TOO vanilla to be there, also I think that the faction symbols and banners were made by one single person, so all of them have his personal signature, which may be the shadowing, or the colors used, or whatever it is.. so... it simply don't look good,

Fair enough. Well, anyone have any suggestions for a Galatian or Barb superfaction banner icon? Like I said, this isn't something I've really thought about before.

Well what about something like this for Galatia? If someone knows how to do the necessary arty bits that is?

fairly easy to do, open it in any half decent image manipulation SW and select one of the edge detect options (trial and error).
fine-tune the image with contrast and inverse colour etc. use it as a base layer and add a colour layer of your choice above it. voila, you have an artsy banner.

Seriously though, I have no idea how to even begin to understand how it's done.

That image is pretty cool. I've got it set up as a TGA file now, ready to be added in. Now we just need one for the barb superfaction.

For the barbarian superfaction, I'd really avoid stuff with too heavy "Viking" association... not because it's necessarily wrong, but because it's kind of pointless to use stuff with such heavy ties to another age.

There are plenty of nice imagery on the Gundestrup Cauldron (1st century BC) from Denmark, depicting (probably) Celtic ritual through (probably) Thracian craftsmanship:

The Illerup Ĺdal bog sacrifice from Denmark produces quite a few useful bits. Many are of Roman origin, but some seem to be Scandinavian, like this one:

It's a bit late (2nd/3rd century AD) though.

In the case of the barbarian superfaction I found some pretty cool images:

I found this one typing "germanic" in google image search
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Its a germanic bracteate form Funen, Denmark, as said in Wikipedia, where the image can be found

and this one was found when I typed "gallic"

    I found this one here

Those are very nice images, but I don't think either will work, unfortunately.

The first one is gorgeous, and I'd love to use it, but the lines are so fine that I fear it will be a featureless blur when scaled down to the size we'll need. (The icons are pretty tiny.)

The second is authentic-looking, but it doesn't really look like anything. I'd like an image that's at least a reasonably identifiable thing of some sort, even if it's a nonexistent thing.

I do appreciate the effort, though. That's exactly the kind of stuff we need.

OH, that's bad :/ ... which size do images need to be?

    I'll look for more, then

I don't know if this will work:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

This symbol is from a (melodic) metal band called... Amon Amarth. The main theme of their song are vikings, norse culture/mythology, war and (glorious) death,
I liked the symbol, with the Thor's hammer and the knotted thing and the other stuff.. in my opinion its a good mix of many cultures, so for a barbarian faction, it may work, plus, I'm sure there are plenty pictures of this symbol out there

As much as I like Amon Amarth...

    Gods of War
    Prediction of Warfare

I don't know if that'll work. Too viking and... Rune-ny?

Given me some ideas though, the one from With Oden on Our Side is nice, unfortunately you have the name plastered across it:

Now... what other obscure bands do I listen to?

    An abstract boat?

But that last one is a serious suggestion, perhaps an abstract stonehenge piece??

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

That's Epona. There might be some other gods/mythological creatures that we can get away with?
