They dominate the map in my campains to the point they usually crush Kwarhezm and Mongols as soon as they arrive. But I think they are supposed to be so strong for the sake of historical adequacy.
Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition...
Not exactly.
The last Seljuk sultan in Iran, Toghrul III, was killed by Khwarazm shah Tekesh in 1194. Those two were aggressively competing for hegemony over former Seljuk possessions in Khurasan.
The Seljuk line was continued in Anatolia until XIV c.
The collapse of Sejuk state had place in 1150's, because of Oghuz rebellion, roughly speaking.
And they should be beaten by Oguz.According to history they should be beaten by Khwarezm, Kara Khitaj and Mongols.![]()
I love it when they're massively powerful. I'm playing Omam, and I've basically crushed most of the factions to the east of the Seljuqs and forced the few remaining factions there into vassalage/alliances that benefit me only. Now the Mongols have invaded and allied with the Seljuqs!!
I'm basically about to face a two-front war with the Mongols and Seljuqs. I'm considering just building a lot of boats and evacuating my entire faction's family members and armies into Africa![]()

I was able to hold them off as Georgia, but only because they only sent occasional stacks. I bribed the Abassids so heavily not to attack me that my money bankrolled their own conquest of the Seljuks. Revenge is best served indirect. They are not invincible.
In my campaign as the Ayyubids, the Seljuks are in the process of destroying the Abbasids, I managed to defend the Abbasid's capital, which was Edessa; but luckily, the Mongols should be coming soon since I received the mongols are unified.
Come on Mongols, come on. ^_^

I had problems with Seljuks, too.
This is what I did.
I'm quite proud of it.![]()
playing as the kypchack confed., Allied with the Seljuks and destroying Georgia, i have perfect relations w/ them to so im hoping for it to be a lasting alliance. Also got trade rights with the romans and turks so am doing pretty well.
When I was playing with the Turkish sultanate I was hoping to go into warfare with the Mongols but because of the Seljuks I never had the chance. So I had to start attacking Seljuk cities and settlements myself.
I'm glad the Seljuks are divided into atabeg states in the next version, there was practically no nation in history which would've been able to resist the Mongols ( except the Mamluk Turks, I guess ).

Laos and Cambodian never face the Mongol. It's Champa from the South. I also read somewhere that the Mongol try to invade Java too and they failed. The Hungarian also able to resist Mongol when they comeback the second time
Yea that what i meant, I always got confused between champa, lao and cambodia in english
Some of the Mameluke soldiers themselves were from the Caucasus region- they were purchased as slaves and trained, converted to Islam, etc.
