Default I hate merciless leader trait !

My king is a chivary one who cares for his people ( ( (

How come he gets this traits. He release every prisoner, keep tax rate at low, normal, but high only in a few turns.

He just employ lots of assasin but that is because he is smart ( ( (. One blade is could save thousands life right ?

This is so mess up. Is there anyway I can build a good king and still use assassins?

I'd say your best bet is to go into the console and manually make the trait have a value of 0. I do so when I get like a "Winning first" on a general I intend on being chivalry or something. Little things like that are just a bother.

There is a txt file in the data folder with all listed traits and either change the requirements for it or disable it.

Or you could not click continue battle so u wont get the winning first trait.

The text highlighted in red is the main reason why your leader is merciless. Every time u get a successful assassination it increases the dread traits of the leader since the faction leader is the one that orders assassination.

Training assassins also affects your Global reputation so stop using them to your king 100% chivalrous and good global reputation..

Here is some script in the txt file.

    Level Merciless_Leader
    Description Merciless_Leader_desc
    EffectsDescription Merciless_Leader_effects_desc
    Epithet Merciless_Leader_epithet_desc
    Threshold 4
    Effect Chivalry -3
    Effect Authority 1

I dont find and code that says successful kill will increase dread level. Maybe it is hard-coded ? Can anyone help me with this please

You expect to use Assassins and NOT be considered a dreadful leader?
It's all about honor, and stabbing someone in the dark without giving them a fair chance to fight back is about as nasty as it gets.
    Assassins = Dread. The end.

    He is right u know.
but if u still want it...
    @Freewind
Upload your SS file called export_descr_character_traits.txt file in the data folder and then i'll do it for you.

You only want that assassinating doesn't makes ur king dreadful right?

ok since u are familiar with a little bit of scripting then open export_descr_character_traits.txt file in the data folder.

Inside the file look for this trigger that gives this dread trait:-
    Code:
    WhenToTest LeaderOrderedAssassination
and under this trigger para, remove lines like:-
    Code:
Affects StrategyDread 1 Chance "say xy"
or you could delete the entire para so that other dread traits part also gets eliminated. Save the file and play on.

    Another way :
As StrategyChivalry is an antitrait of StrategyDread you can just wait for your leader to get the "Fair in Rule" (or "Noble in Rule", or even "Chivalrous in Rule") trait (by putting low taxes it's easy), and then you can assassinate without problems. Tested and approved.

Also, make sure your leader is not in the city when you recruit an assassin... Or fix that trigger too.

    Deleting the entire trigger called:-
    WhenToTest LeaderOrderedAssassination
Is the only effective way to get rid of traits like Master of assassins that also makes the F.Leader Dreadful.

The use of assassins to get Merciless Ruler and Master of Assassins (along with a few quick execution parties and bolt -fest battles for Merciless Conqueror and Warlord of Terror) make getting a 10+ dread faction leader a lot easier than for other generals. I really like it, along with the spy traits ...

Routing then capturing everyone is really fast (and efficient) way to win battles than whenever trying to train chivalry generals (for governing). Helps a bit when assaulting, since the faster they get off the walls and into the square means more (safe) work for the crossbows ^___^

I agree this is why i make dreadful kings coz some of the dread traits also increase authority which is vital to build up.

It seems strange to me because every new faction leader I get has already 6-7 authority and it grows up really fast (and even faster when you get the crown). What are the advantages of having a dreadful leader ?

Your thinking of chivary is hilarious. Are you that bad at the battle map?

What do you mean by that? I never use my assassins to assassinate enemy generals/family members, but i still use a lot of them. I also prefer still keeping chivalry as well. The times where i did assassinate a general, it rarely made a difference in the battle map at all.

Anyway, an alternate solution could be to use "remove_trait this StrategyDread" (need to have your king selected and standing outside of a city/castle) to get rid of the effects, though the "merciless" title may stick around. You can also give him StrategyChivalry to get "the Chivalrous" (think that's the name) as stated before. Since it's an anti-trait to StrategyDread it will drop when you get points for the dread trait. Or simply remove/alter the triggers as Ishan suggested. Hope it all works out well for you!

I don't need to remove anything because I don't use assassins... I think you confused me with someone else. I was quoting Freewind, unless your him?

I was referring to when you said "Are you that bad at the battle map?", since assassinating generals seems to do nothing on the battle map(for me at least), that statement didn't make much sense.
