Default Request For Information For Installer

I'm not currently at a computer with Rome Installed, nor will I be while creating the installer (long story don't ask). What I'd like is for someone who's familiar with the registry to look in their registry and give me the registry key and value name where Rome stores its install path. I'm trying to setup the installer so that it copies the vanilla directory and then installs into the copy, this will hopefully keep everyone happy, though I'm not sure how this will interact with steam yet so I might make a steam installer as well.

If you could post the info it would be greatly appreciated.

Here you go. What these are, are the settings I use to re-install either RTW or BI...both patched to 1.5 or 1.6, just by copying the directory to a new or redone PC and changing the REG files to match the directory I put them in. With the two reg files run, and the files copied into Program Files, you never need the CD. Hope this helps.

I am wondering, though, what happens if the person has a mod installed in their original directory? Anyway, you'll see the 'Keys' involved.

Isn't that going to cause issues with legal stuff?

Also what about for Alex (1.9)?

Any mods installed in the original directory (whether mod foldered or not) will be copied.

There should be no issues with Alex, but we'll see.

Thanks dvk that was what I was looking for. I need one more piece of information from someone who uses RTW on steam that is what are the RTW (not steam) entries for the steam version? For non-steam the registry entries are either in HKEY_Local_Machines\Software\Activision (if you have a three CD version) or HKEY_Local_Machines\Software\The Creative Assembly if you have a newer one, I'd just like confirmation that the steam version uses one of those as opposed to HKEY_Local_Machines\Software\Sega or something else entirely.

What if someone has already made a copy of their original installation in readiness for RS2?

As long as the original is untouched it should be OK.
