we have made 2 versions of cretan archers which we will use
...i dont dare to log in to our board to fetch the screenshosts right now because i ll have to read/answer more than 10 pms and i want to relax now

before i saw your pm i thought that u meant the shield should be moved higher in the arm....but since u mean the material made of,then bronze (or bronze plate) is the correct one...not wood...

Rosacrux redux -a cretan himslef

- told me that he thinks the shields were not made of metal at that age....i myself howver remember a reference which says -at least in Xenophons time- they were either made ALL from metal or they had a bronze plate...also they are recorded to "shine in the sun" which means they cannot have been made of the material the pelta is made.....

also he suggested that we should place an icon in the shield.....but i havent seen any illustartion with such icon...
maybe he will brought some picture of icon soon

Heya Snevets

I love your skins (and of the whole Hegemonia team, they are really awesome) and the Cretans are not an exeption. The image (insignia, "episima") I was talking about to Apostate, was a sort of a wild goat that's native (and exclusive) to Crete, called "Aigagros" or "Kri Kri". This aigagros was one of the two quite oftenly used symbols on Cretan mercenaries shields - the other being the rather controversial swastika-like maze.

I've been trying to find that image, but have failed up to now... I have seen it in the archeological museum of Crete though and chances are I am gonna find it sooner or later.

Once again, you are doing a fantastic job and those hoplites are just too sweet!

Thanks rosacrux. I suppose that the Cretans would look better with shield designs (although I do like the plain-ness of it) but I might steal the aix for the cretan shieldbearers if you don't mind (because they were using the rooster until one of the city specific Cretan hoplites [for Gortys] got that instead).

A few comments:
The very top pic with the real picture on the shield could either be very nice to have, or might look horrible next to the other units' shields.

The square shielded skirmisher looks real, just awsome

Your persian Immortal is the only one I've seen with a spear and Bow, Nice job.

Overall these are very nice and only makes me want it to be done already so I can play it...
