    Default Punic voicemod

    Hello.

I was wondering if it would be possible for me to use EB's Punic voice sounds in FOE. I play both mods, but I would like to use the voice sounds in both mods if possible (for my own personal use). I already use the Latin voicemod in FOE as it has it's own installer. How much work would it be however to get the Punic voices working?

I would try to do this myself but I am not sure exactly where to start as all I have is the folder with the sound files in it.

Sorry if this is a weird question but I like to add to the atmosphere of all of the RTW mods I have as much as possible (I have added a lot to my music for example).

If the eb voice mod deals with the replies the units give when you click them then it`s quite a lot of work. For one thing the name of the units will differ from one to the other as the two mods have pretty different rosters afaik and for another, the EDU entries of the units will probably be different. Which means you`d have to edit export_descr_sounds_units_voice and manually code the EB voice files for each unit that you want to use them.

The Punic voices in EB do not have unit names as far as I can tell, just commands (attack, move, stop, group formations, fire at will, loose/tight formations, etc.)

As long as I have an idea of what I need to do I will probably try to do it anyway, even if this takes me a while.

So taking into account that the sound files do not include any unit names, exactly which files would I need to edit?

    Maybe start with this guide:

It`s put together by the guy who made the latin voice mod. The commands iirc are mentioned in export_descr_sounds_units_voice too.

What Florrin means is that within the game files, the unit is given a name so that the game knows what textures to apply, animations to use, statistics and voices. etc etc. All this is so that when you go to use the unit in game, you get the appropriate effects.

You would have to work out from EB which sound file you wanted to allocate to which RTR unit.

There is probably a section in the "mod workshop" which will help you get familiar with using sound files. I highly recomend you start there first.

With the help of that thread I got the sounds working (It did not take very long, I only got around to it yesterday). It was not very hard, just somewhat tedious.

I have finally completely integrated Punic, Greek, Gallic, and Latin into my own FOE successfully. Thanks to those who directed me to the very helpful thread.

Why don't you release it as an addon? I'm sure there are others who might be interested in this.

I doubt I can release it as an addon. If the EB team were okay with it, I would do it in a heartbeat, but I am not sure if I would be allowed to. While most of the Latin and Gallic is already released publicly, the rest is not so I believe I would need permission from the EB team to release it as an addon.
I did this as my own personal project for my own game, and if anyone wishes to copy me they can.

On the other hand, if they did give permission then I would of course release it.

No harm in asking I guess...

I am not sure where or who to ask however. There is an EB loaning thread, but it is several years old and I am not sure if the contact instructions are still valid.

I'd pm Foot as he's the current leader of EB and is still pretty active here at TWC.

And you're more likely to get a successful contact with them on the org... As that's where they are most active

Okay, I will try that sometime this week. I would have done it already but I have been working on reenactment projects, real life stuff, plus playing some FOE campaigns now I finally finished modding it lol.

Well, I could have sworn I properly sent a PM, but my sent box is empty. Is there any way a PM was messaged and it never appeared in the sent box? I don't want to repeat the PM only for it to turn out I am just spamming up his inbox, heh.
