    Default Mod Concept

The concept of the project we are developing is as thrilling and as simple it can get for a fan of the Hellenic wars and the Hellenic civilization!

Hegemonia Cities States is a mod on BI. The start date is at 514 just before the armies of Persian Empire cross Hellespondos to march against Europe and the Thracians. That means there will be available for the Persian faction quite a big invasion army gathered and prepared to attack from the beginning. If we use any scripts (which is under discussion) then there will be 2 more such armies generating at 490 and 480 to simulate both of the Persian attempts.

However the Persians are not the only threat. The Greek cities and colonies which are spread all around in the campaign map (and beyond that of course) and are doomed in a constant struggle against each other, against civilized and uncivilized barbarians (barbarians originally meant non Greeks),against native populations who are often hostile towards Greek colonists and of course against their main competitors in navy and trade: the Phoenicians and their own colonies!
The Phoenicians may have played a role in the decision for a Persian invasion against Hellas and also its not accidentally that while the Greeks were preparing to face the superior Persian naval forces (in which Phoenician ships were the most important) in Salamis, the Carthaginians launched a huge attack against Sicily to smash Hellenism in all its strongholds!

In the game we will most likely include some Peloponnesian war units as well (like Greek peltasts, special marines and more use of cavalry) but we will mostly focus in warfare between heavily armed hoplites fighting in shield wall (maybe combined with an animation we will develop and an altered formation if it will be doable) supported by missile auxilia troops. That means u will see many superb new models, some models that few people have seen before and generally every accurate and fascinating hoplite u can imagine. Of course there will also be eastern types of troops, mounted units where they existed, savage warriors in areas inhabited by wild and uncultured people as well as Carthaginian and Etruscan troops in west

For the units u can forget about using vanilla models! We are using our own models for most units we create and the result is realistic and impressive.
The victory conditions will include for most Greek cities and Greek-related kingdoms of Hellenic origin to capture one or more of special provinces Olympia, Delphoi and Dodona (amongst with other conditions too of course).

What about barbarian victory conditions? You should remember to keep the mod unbiased.

although we focus to greeks we will give enough care to non greeks as well
we have already made several decent 3d models for non greeks as well

sure they will be interesting to play with
there people within the team who are responsible to raise all info necessary for etruscans, carthaginians and illyrian/epirotes

i just wanted to mention in first post that by giving the greeks some common targets for victory conditions such as to acquire control over those places with panhellenic importance -along with corinth province- will give the game extra interesr

Yes, but everyone keep in mind the mod is called hegemonia, and its about Hellas, not Etruria or Carthage. There are other mods for that. Probably the greatest reason why we are spending time working on the non Hellenic factions right now is so that you aren't fighting against pac man. Of course, it'll be more than worth it to check out Illyria, Epirus and Etruria as player factions. In RTW you could unlock any faction, but in truth playing as Dacia was a bit boring. In this mod we're making great models for every faction so that, even though most of us just want to play the Hellenic factions (woot Locris and Sparta) it'll be fun to play as everyone. For instance, Locris was in AOH a filler faction, a semi cool unit or two and a bunch of crappy fillers. In this mod there will be no filler factions, Locris has very interesting models (some by me and some by others), which you'll see soon enough.

I agree with snevets to some excent.. but even though its mainly about the greek world.. you have to include various other factions like the persians, cathage and Etruia. These states effected the greek world in a big way and vica versa. It keeps the game more interesting. And it gives the mod an alternative if you dont want to play as a greek faction and you want to crush them!

Dont worry all factions, even non Greek ones will be given a good solid amount of time and work dedicated to them.

    Hi y´all.

If I may ask some questions:

1º According to what i`ve read on your posts, this mod starts just before the 1.st. invasion of the Medes, and finishes before the Theban Heghemony over Ancient Greece. Wouldn`t you consider incluiding this epoch in your mod as well (Theban Heghemony)?

2º Assuming that your answer to the question above is negative (which is most probably), may I ask why? Is it because in that time began the decline of the golden age of Hellas? Is it because the shifts of the phalanx tactics of that time would be too difficult to script and to incluide on your mod? Is it because you hate Thebans?

3º Have you defined the finish date of your game? Is it before the battle of Leuctra? Mantinea?

4º and last) (Related to the 3rd question) Will you incluide the time of Dionisius of Syracuse on your mod? I`m just too excited to play as Dionisus, and to kick the Carthagineans off Sicily!!! :sweatingb

Thank you all for your time, and sorry for my english. hope we understand each other.

    Bye.

I'll try to answer most of your questions.

    1. The dates have been choosen and will not change sorry. This is also the same for factions. If and thats a big if the team does decide to make another mod it might be from The decline of Sparta, to the rise of Thebes, to The fall of Thebes and rise of Macedon. And the Succesors TW is already covering after Alexanders death.

    2. Theirs many reason why I think the team picked 404 B.C. to end the mod. 1st obvious one that any greek historian will notice is the end of the Pelloponesian War what I notice was the Truce between Carthage and Syracuse ( I have reasons to suspect that Carthage had done this because now the Srycusian allies Sparta have won in mainland Greece and they can request for help, this might have concern the Carthaginians) since Carthage intrest me more than most of any Hellenic faction. Their is some team memeber that do always blame the Thebans for not beeing so negotiable some say its because of them that Hellas couldn't really be unified.

    3. Yes finished date is 404 B.C. The end of the Pelloponesian War and the Truce of Carthage and Syracuse.

    4. We will include the early time of this. At 404 B.C. Carthage were having some african revolts and thats why the called for a truce and called back its Army. I'm pretty sure Carthage would have finished the Job 1st on Syracuse if this had not happen .

This mod is stunning and I wish ya the best of luck (and speed) in completing it! The skins are beautifully crafted, I love their bronze-like realism which was typical of the time.

My only worry is that things might get a little similar in terms of units so getting a bit creative every now and then would make for really interesting and diverse gameplay. I think the map needs to be extented south and westwards slightly just to make the playing fields of the sea and carthage more expansive. Also adding more smaller provinces to the coasts around the black sea and other parts will encourage players to build up the Greek colony cities to improve trade and influence.

Apart from that all I can so is holy ****! This mod is bloody amazing and I only hope gameplay (motivation of diplomacy, trade, land etc) is tweaked to fit the map and be as richly detailed as the wonderful units and civs you have created already. GOOD LUCK!! woooo

When will this mod be out?, and will it be easy to download? and will it be compatible with windows 7?

Well, you can't blame them - if they made a new topic it would be like "there's already a topic for this, use the search button".
He definitely used the search button.

    Anyways, to answer the questions:
    1. TWC Golden Rule number 1: Don't ask for release dates; it's done when it's done.
    2. As easy as other mods I assume.
    3. If Rome - Total War works this should work with no problems.
