    Default some questions about xc

    i was a big fan of xgm.

    now, a long time after i stopped playing i decided to come back. my questions are now:

    -should i play xgm again or switch to xc?

    what i know is that xc uses the xgm factions and troops (glory to the sabaean empire ) and everything has been changed.

    -but what has been changed exactly?
    -the download is a gamma (?), what does that mean and how stable is it?
    -it is not savegame compatible to older versions. how big is the chance that the next releases will be not compatible also?

    -and many other questions i forgot.

    To answer your questions:

    1) both mods can be on the same RTW install so no need to really exclude one over the other

    2) XC expands pretty much every aspect of XGM (units, accuracy, buildings, traits etc) and a much slower game pace

    3) A detailed list of changes would be very long so let me give a shorter one:

    - The colony system has been greatly expanded to include all major (and many minor) cultures of the time

    - Unit rosters and AOR units have also been expanded, giving much more variety

    - Many buildings have been revised, barracks have been split by culture and in some cases even by faction

    - The trait system has been overhauled, now having a good faction leader is extremely important

    - if you have BI the seleucid campaign is extremely... interesting

    - Campaign development is slower than XGM and AI bonuses work in a different way, you also can field less stacks.

    4) I suggest you try the test versions rather than Gamma (which is a "beta" anyway), by now they are just as stable (aside from the occasional and quickly fixed bug) and have a ton more features, the next major update (Delta) is pretty close anyway.

    5) Both Gamma and test versions are not compatible with older ones but usually the extra features are worth a new campaign.

    And a lot of things I forgot... Last but not least, the mod is more or less halfway between XGM and EB (plus its own tricks) so you will need to be more of a Caesar than an Alexander (Suppanut would say Mithradates is best)

    Both XGM and XC are awesome mods, I prefer XC due to its enhanced "realism." The fact that Faction Leaders actually matter, and the amount of detail that has been placed in this makes for a challenging and brilliant mod to play.

    If you enjoyed XGM, you'll love this.

    i wanted to download xc but i am a bit confused about what version i should download.

    can someone please post me a link to the latest stable version?

    I'm just wondering that someone can tell me is there any way to play XC camping as a hot seat or in LAN?

    multiplayer campaign is something modders tried to achieve for years and failed, there might be an hot seat mod for RTW somewhere though.

    Another question.

    I try to find out the criteria of the reforms for each factions. I read the read me file too, but unfortunately I can not find it. Can somebody advise me which topic contains that?

    The Romans need a Huge level city in Italy. Not sure if it changes when using other factions.

    I see. Thanks, I just thought that it is much more difficult like in RS or EB...
    I prefer this more than the complicated versions.

    There also some roster change in other factions after Marian Reform as well.

    Yes, pretty much every faction (except Saba IIRC) gets at least one or two new units post reform...

    after a few days i decided to go back to xgm. the xc mod feels unfinished, there is something about i cant get used too.

    but i will try it again sometime.

    Ok thanks anyway. Enjoying my pontic campaign...trying to avoid the mace/scythian squeeze play while trying to take the black sea provinces..
