Historically, by 1345 Achaea was no threat to expand. The petty princes could hardly defend their own lands from bandits and Albanian migrants. They were never able to field a real army either. And, the Prince (or princess) of Achaea rarely even resided within the territory. They typically lived in Naples. So, I think Achaea is a good rebel province, only good at defending itself.

also, to add, achaea's regions were reduced by duchy of athens. duchy took over corinth, and in that way, achaea would have a little territories for the start.
duchy of athens was under catalans, catalan company was off duty, so they conquered athens and rule over duchy. roster would have same units as aragon, some latin and byziantine, so it will quite be very interesting

Yeah I take responsibility! Achaea was week and divided. The nobles didn't have the power to try to expand, and in fact were barely able to defend themselves from Albanian migrants. The Catalans in Athens were aggressive and will have a more unique unit roster as well.

Actually you're right! Since reading your post I looked over my books and the Achaea I was thinking of more resembled the situation it was in in the 13th century, a hundred years later it was nearly gone. Also the option to play as a faction run by the Catalan Company is pretty enticing! Although probably some of the lands of Achaea should probably be in control of Naples don't you think? Also on a side note, if you have Durazzo as a settlement you should probably give it to Naples to represent the Napolitan Kingdom of Albania. You could make Charles the Duke of Durazzo the general there, as although Robert Prince of Achaea was titular King of Albania at this time, that state's lands had virtually receded to the area surrounding Durazzo which was held by the duke.

To let you know: The faction Palaiologos (or "The Imperial Regency of the Roman Empire" as it is named) will not be ruled directly by John Palaiologos (he is ~13 in the beggining) but by the Regents. Also it will be in a faaar more difficult position than Kantakouzenos...

EDIT: and john palaiologos will appear in both factions after the civil war is over (see the byzantine empire script thread)

no, just the catalans conquered both the Duchy of Athens and the Duchy of Neopatria...So they renamed the "faction" as "Duchy of Athens and Neopatria".

The present-day King of Spain has also the titular (non-existing) title "King of Athens and Neopatria".

uhm, i would bring in 2 factions, that NEVER have been considered as part of any mod: Livona and Estonia: these 2 nations were last of pagan nations that were conquered, estonians btw, were first to add crossbows to their weaponry extensively from baltic pagans. Adding these 2 nations would give this mod an advantage: faction variety- theres always been same factions over and over, it gets boring already, but adding some less-known faction... that would give some variety in m2tw faction lists. If you have problems finding info about these 2 nations pre- 1227 era, i can give it myself (but only as last resort, not online very often). u can contact me at meelis13@hotmail.com
