    Default Overpowered Rebels

I like the new powerful rebels, but they're too powerful now!

How can anyone defeat this (any tips would be most welcome (there's another rebel territory similar to this which I want to conquer))? Maybe limit them to one or two stacks, four and a half is impossible...

Well that seems interesting to me. Bring a stack with a Night Figher general and attack the castle.
Rebels root easily too so it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Night Battles, Heavy Cavalry, Flaming Arrows, Mangonels and Dread Generals work easily enough.

Plus, you're turn 111 with more than enough gold to replace losses. All I can suggest is focus on destroying the Seljuks.Once they're done with, just build several "spam" armies of cheap troops to draw them out, and then train them that way. Without a general, and with high dread, you can easily train your heavy cavalry.

Thanks for the excellent ideas , I didn't think of night fighter (+rep to you both). I'm planning to invade eastwards (I've been tackling Italy), after the current Jihad is over.

by the 111th turns you should have dominated the game as the roman since they got one of the richest region in the world. Btw, if you're already your pants then what would you say if you're seeing 60 stacks of Mongols as seen in the other thread

Well I've been bogged down in Italy, and didn't want to fight a two front war. I also wanted to get to advanced troops before tackling the east.

Yeah I read that Mongols thread . To be honest, I far prefer defending to attacking, so I'm actually looking forward to that.

    Thanks for the reply.

use a high command General with Night Battle to take them out one at a time... remember that rebels that flee battle always die, they don't retreat their stack or so...

I remember this happened to me in MTW, when Lithuania went rebel... 2 or 3 stacks of rebels spawned when I played as Novgorod. I think it's a very good thing it happens in M2TW.

Have a look at Smolensk too, the start garrison is a full stack of rebels.

Yeah I like it on a whole (just not 4 stacks (although with the ideas I've been given, maybe 4 isn't enough ?)). It slows down early game expansion which is good (so the "critical mass" doesn't come until the later part of the game).

Just leave the Rebel-Islands in the Med alone for a bit....i have a Game as Portugal where im now trying to take Ajaccio and Cagliari (sp ?).
Its Turn 160 or smt (early camp).
Ajaccio had 3 Stacks...easy but that other Island...well im down to 6 Stacks now..thats about half from where i started. And they are growing rather fast once i kill a few (i think its the only Rebel-Province left which doesnt help).

That would be 12 stacks (I thought I had it bad )! The thing is that, one province "real" factions are easier to deal with than one region of rebels...

Couldnt you buy a couple of stacks off? Unless your saving for something

Nice idea, I didn't think of bribing... Rebels might be more susceptible to bribing (I've had lots of failed bribes (has anyone ever had a successful one?)).

Yeah, a skilled diplomat can do wonders in such a situation. As long as you don't try to buy the region itself (for there is no real point in that if you can't destroy the armies in it) you can quickly reduce their strenght a lot.

Edit: I bribed settlements a few times, and I've had one settlement be bribed as well. Since they're all captains it shouldn't be a problem.

I suggest making several night fighter armies. I haven't read the other suggestions, but that is how I deal. Use the night fighters to reinforce each other while dividing and conquering the rebels. Remember, they are not just rebels, they are an independent nation prepared to fight for their freedom
